Johnson’s Baby Wipes, from £2.69
Why I love it: Simple, yet oh-so effective. Baby wipes are my secret beauty weapon when it comes to removing make-up and freeing my pores from daily grime. They’re inexpensive, gentle and leave your skin feeling super-soft. They even remove tough waterproof mascara and liquid eyeliner. Result!

Elemis Balancing Lavender Toner, £17
Why I love it: I don’t like using harsh chemicals on my skin, and prefer to be as natural as possible when it comes to the products I use. Elemis’ Balancing Lavender Toner is purely plant-based, and works to reduce oil, shrink pores and generally even the complexion without over-drying or stripping it. Lovely to use as a refreshing facial spritz over make-up during the day, too.

BareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam, £15
Why I love it: I am a big fan of BareMinerals make-up – using the breathable Original powder foundation (£24) has really transformed my skin. And the same can be said for their skincare range. My favourite is the Deep Cleansing Foam. It lasts for ages, lathers up to a gorgeous creamy elixir on the skin and leaves it feeling soft, purified and spot-free. Perfect for combination skin, and again, completely natural.

Nuxe’s Crème Fraiche de Beaute Formule Light Moisturising Rebalancing Emulsion, £23.50
Why I love it: I have searched far and wide for the perfect daytime moisturiser for my combination skin, and none have been quite so brilliant as Nuxe’s ultra-natural Crème Fraiche de Beaute Formule Light Moisturising Rebalancing Emulsion. The cream formula glides on, soaks up excess oil, refines pores and keeps skin plump and hydrated all day. Definitely the hardest working product in my regime. I couldn’t go a day without it.

Marks & Spencer Formula Age Repair Ceramide Collagen Serum, £9.50
Why I love it: Like lots of people, I’m sceptical about the effectiveness of budget products, so discovering this was a real ‘hallelujah!’ moment. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the Holy Grail of anti-aging products; it feels nice, smells nice, it won’t break the bank – and it works. In an independent trial, 72% of users thought this product made them look younger in just 10 days. I, for one, wouldn’t go to bed without a generous slick of it.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More™ Vacuum Cleaner, £39
Why I love it: I’ve been paranoid about blackheads since I was a teenager, when I used to spend all of my pocket money on those crazy strip products that you glued to your nose and literally ripped away, in the hope that the gunk blocking up your pores would come with them. Oh, how times have changed. Now, I still have pore issues when I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, but using Vacuum Cleaner for a week or so sorts me right out. Plus, it’s nice and gentle on my distinctly-non-teenage skin.

Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream, £49
Why I love it: Grey hairs excepted, my eyes are my first point of panic about ageing. I’ve not tried any dedicated eye cream as effective as this one at brightening them up and soothing puffiness – and, unlike most, making good on its promise to deliver results instantly. There’s a reason why there are three patents attached to its magical contents...[/b]

Promising a five-pronged approach to prepping your skin, the gel-based formula glides over skin absorbing quickly as it mattifies and smoothes the surface of your face creating the perfect base for foundation. La Prairie Day Cream SPF 30, £134
Why I love it: La Prairie products are like an event rather than just a step in one’s beauty regime: thanks to the supreme packaging (I’m certain it emits an ethereal glow!) and silky texture of the formula. My ultimate treat for beauty aficionados has to be a pot of the Platinum Eye Cream (£222, La Prairie) – it’s the Ferrari of eye moisturisers! Back to the Day Cream: what’s inside this decadent pot can turn around tired, partied-out skin in one application. There are four effective UV filters packed into this potent cream, alongside a carefully formulated anti-ageing complex. Sparing the pretence of a list of ingredients, it really works.Stockist: House of Fraser, John Lewis, Urban Retreat

Aromatherapy Associates Nourishing Face Oil, £37
Why I love it: In winter my skin can get rather high maintenance and needs lots of extra moisture or I have to fake a ‘glow’ with clever make-up. Since this little bottle and I met, we’ve been best friends ever since. Massage two pearl-sized drops into your skin before applying night cream to satisfy your visage with natural ingredients and minerals. P.S. It smells gorgeous too!

Trilogy Eye Contour Cream, £26 and Eye Concentrate Roller, £25.50
Why I love it: I wear lashings of eye make-up so I need a supple base to build on - therefore I don’t compromise on my eye creams. Trilogy is my favourite brand for this category - plus, it’s a company with high ethics and even higher standards. I use the concentrate when I need to hide late nights but religiously stick to the cream on a daily basis.

Darphin 8 Flower Nectar, £85
Why I love it: In the last couple of years I have fallen in love with the wonderful properties of essential oils. Maybe as I am a little older now and no longer at the mercy of spots, I can comfortably oil my face without fear. Darphin have a selection of facial oils including Rose, Tangerine, Chamomile and Jasmine which I also adore – especially the Tangerine. However the 8 Flower Nectar is Darphin’s ‘elixir of youth’ containing Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Neroli, Rose, Jasmine, Ever-lasting, Iris and Lavender plus various super skin boosting vitamins. Just a few drops after cleansing on my face each night underneath my moisturiser and I’m ready for my beauty sleep.

Vaseline, from £1.50
Why I love it: Vaseline creates a barrier to lock in moisture to the skin – so it’s not only a handbag essential for dealing with chapped lips, it can also be used on areas of dryness elsewhere on the skin. But the real reason I love it? I use these little pots to create quick highlights and leave a glossy finish on cheeks and below the brow-bone. Did you get to try the Crème Brûlée special edition pots? Heavenly.

Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner, £3.25
Why I love it: I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to toners. I don’t like anything too astringent that strips my skin’s natural oils and leaves it feeling tight. The Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner removes the final traces of my make-up without being harsh. And, even though it’s famously not perfumed, there’s a lot of good stuff in there (camomile and witch hazel to name just two) to make sure your face feels fresh afterwards.
