"Moisture flux in the hair causes frizz," says Michael Shaun Corby, Global Creative Director of Living Proof. "Your outer layer of hair absorbs moisture (especially in a humid environment) which causes hair to swell," he explains.

However, smoother looking hair starts in the shower with the shampoo you choose. An ultra-clarifying shampoo can dry hair out and exacerbate frizz, whereas a moisturising formula packed with nourishing oils that cocoon and protect strands and cuticles can and keep them feeling smoother. A healthy, strong hair cuticle means there's no gaps for the moisture to sneak into, reducing your chances of experiencing frizz no matter the weather.
