Nail these catwalk creations

It's not just about the clothes, the hair or the beauty looks when it comes to runway styling these days. Nail designs are an integral part of the overall aesthetic and hours are spent behind the scenes devising the final look that will perfectly complement the collection, not to mention stand out when the models hit the runway.
From short and simple to long and directional, the following are just some of the designs that have caught our eye in recent seasons.

The king of high octane bling and glamour didn't disappoint with his latest offering of made-for-the-red-carpet gowns and he kept the glossiness in the nail department, too. A glossy mushroom shade is a sophisticated finishing touch.

Italian house Gabriele Colangelo keeps things simple with a slick of glossy clear polish and a perfectly positioned white circle at the base of the nail. Directional and different, it's a look we love.

A high-shine maroon shade is the perfect finishing touch at Genny and complements the feminine and contemporary hair and make-up aesthetic perfectly.

When your collection zeroes in on high-shine texture and laser cut finishes, the nails have to reflect it. London-based Brazilian designer Mariana Jungmann's models sported this fierce space-age style silver look, peppered with miniscule pearls and light-reflecting jewels. Far out, in a good way.

Giorgio Armani's S/S collection zoned in on the theme of the sea and the sand and the landscapes they help to form and impact. A simplistic make-up look (using hardly any product, bar the silvers and browns around the eyes) work seamlessly with the matte brown shade of the nails, one of nature's most dominant shades.

For Moschino's tongue-in-cheek Barbie collection, there was only one way to go on the nail colour, right? Bubblegum pink, of course.
IndigitalTopshop Unique S/S 2015
Bringing the British seaside sharply into focus with its latest runway offering, Unique paired its bold and bright stripes and pleating with an equally head-turning nail colour. A block shade of deep raspberry complemented the sea of berry pouts perfectly.
IndigitalBurberry S/S 2015
To match the mood of the English summertime which permeated Burberry's latest offering, the models sported a putty grey hue on their talons. An oh-so British summertime vibe, don't you think?
Getty ImagesVivienne Westwood Red Label S/S 2015
Never one to do things by halves, the nails at Vivienne Westwood were a defiant ombre pattern in deep maroon, giving a blood-like quality to the finished design. Given the collection was a sartorial nod to encourage Scotland to vote for independence from the UK, we can't help but think these nails perfectly encompass the phrase 'fighting tooth and nail' for the cause.

To bring added drama to Nasir Mazhar's tribal sportswear-inspired collection, the nails were given a bling makeover. The nails themselves are long, lean and extra pointed, accentuated further with a deep red base and a solid V-shaped white tip. The final flourish? A diamond-ring style jewel on the centre nail. Not for the faint hearted.

For a collection that was all about high shine, shimmer and, most importantly, fun, the Ashish girl sported bejewelled talons in rainbow shades. Might be a tad high maintenance for everyday but what a great party look.
Getty ImagesBora Aksu S/S 2015
To complement his pretty, lightweight and delicate collection, the Bora Aksu girl's nails were a girly shade of light coral. The perfect partner.
Getty ImagesByblos S/S 2015
With a vibrant palette of pinks, lemons, greens and blues, Italian house Byblos kept everything else simple to let the collection take centre stage. A flawless, high gloss make-up look finds its soulmate in a sleek French polish nail design. Simplicity wins, yet again.
Rex FeaturesDesigual S/S 2015
With a collection that exudes fun and frivolity, a swirl of pastels florals across each nail is a very pretty finishing touch from the Spanish brand.
Rex FeaturesEmanuel Ungaro S/S 2015
Bold, dramatic, statement; all words that describe the S/S collection from Ungaro - and the beauty aesthetic follows suit - cool blue eyes are juxtaposed with bold red lips and powerful matching red talons.
Getty ImagesI'm Isola Marras S/S 2015
Another fan of the white theme is fashion house I'm Isola Marras, whose collegiate-style collection was brimming with fresh ideas and charm. Bright white nails add to the idea that this is a girl who has the whole world at her feet and a clean slate from which to begin.
IndigitalGiles S/S 2015
Welcome to the jungle, the Giles jungle, where girls go to party, have fun and look amazing. And the nail shade to accompany this fierce aesthetic? Punchy green with a sweep of black across the top for good measure.
Getty ImagesAzede Jean-Pierre A/W 2014
Reflecting the autumnal hues of New York designer Azede Jean-Pierre's A/W collection (think burnt orange and khaki greens), the army green shade of the nails work oh-so well against the complementing tones.
Rex FeaturesCynthia Rowley A/W 2014
If you're feeling brave, why not make like Cynthia Rowley's girl and sport a kaleidoscope of shades on your talons. Red, green, yellow and purple - a beautiful blend for the winter season.

Erin Heatherton posted this pic of her fabulous nails backstage at New York Fashion Week. We're big fans of minimalism so this all-white creation with skinny gold horizontal line is music to our ears.
