It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and these are all the products you can buy to support the cause
It’s October which, alongside wearing coats and knitwear and decorating for Halloween, means only one thing: Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year feels more poignant than ever, with the death of Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding still very much fresh in our minds after her resilient 15 month-long battle. The sad fact is that if it’s not a celebrity we know and love with the disease, it’s a member of our family or friendship group…or both.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK. Most women (and, in rare cases, men) diagnosed with breast cancer are over the age of 50, but younger women can also get it. According to the NHS around one in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, however there's a good chance of recovery if it's detected at an early stage.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the world. Know the signs to look out for.

It goes without saying that it’s absolutely vital for people to check their breasts regularly for any changes and always have anything untoward checked and examined by a GP. Apart from being aware about your own health, other ways that you can become more educated on the topic of breast cancer is by supporting the foundations, trusts and brands that fund the research behind it by donating money and/or buying products from companies that will give a percentage of their profits to breast cancer-specific charities.
Charities such as Breast Cancer Now, Against Breast Cancer, Breast Cancer Haven, Future Dreams, Make 2nds Count, Pink Ribbon Foundation, Secondary 1st, and CoppaFeel! are all fantastic foundations which specialise in the focus of breast cancer (with thousands of others dedicated to cancer in general). These are the types of trusts you want to look out for, especially when buying products from brands for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
If you don’t have the money to donate but still want to support the cause, you can sign up to Wear It Pink and wear the colour on Friday 22nd October 2021 and raise money yourself or simply take part in solidarity.
So what brands are donating to Breast Cancer Awareness this year?
Ghd is donating £10 from every sale of the ghd rose gold pink collection to Breast Cancer Now, and Elemis is doing the same when you buy the Limited Edition Supersize Skin Bliss Capsules. Regardless of sales, Elemis promises to give a minimum of £33,000 to Breast Cancer Now - if that’s not worth supporting, we don’t know what is.
Bobbi Brown will donate the full RRP price of every Limited Edition Crushed Oil Infused Gloss Duo sold in the UK to Breast Cancer Research Foundation from from September 2nd 2021 to June 30th 2022, and Philip Kingsley is donating 50p for every sale of its No Scent No Colour Shampoo or Conditioner to Look Good Feel Better.
