The homes that we see in TV and film are always totally gorgeous, inconceivably stylish and (without fail) jealousy-inducing. As we watch from our average-sized rooms, we lust over the lodgings of our favourite onscreen characters...
From the silver screen to the small screen, here are all the digs that we dream of living in...
Iris's cottage - The Holiday
No list of the best movie homes would be right without Iris's cottage from The Holiday, set in the Surrey countryside. Complete with its open fireplace, exposed stone walls, big bath tub and twisty staircase, it made us all want to book it for a winter getaway. But only if Jude Law was included. The cottage is now worth an estimated $1.23 million! Better get saving...
Monica's apartment - Friends
*Everyone* wanted to live in Monica's apartment from Friends which was slap bang in the centre of New York. It was the setting for the gang's Christmases, Thanksgivings, their many parties, and where all of them (bar Ross) lived at one point or another. It was so homely. We miss it on our screens.
Regina George's bedroom - Mean Girls
Regina George AKA leader of The Plastics' bedroom was literally the dream for any girl watching Mean Girls for the first time. From her four-poster bed to her hot pink furnishings and her photo board, the whole thing had us asking our parents for a trip to Ikea.
Amanda's mansion - The Holiday
Cameron Diaz's character Amanda's Los Angeles mansion from the film was equally desirable, but for totally different reasons. We adored her bedroom with its remote controlled blinds and TV. The dream.
The beach houses - Revenge
What was there not to love about the beach houses from Revenge? The show is based in the Hamptons, and all of the houses had a porch that wrapped around the ENTIRE place. And if you went to Emily Throne's, the very fit Josh Bowman (Daniel Grayson) could often be found there. What's not to love?
Susan Mayer's house - Desperate Housewives
The Desperate Housewives houses were, predictably, gorgeous. There was Gabby's with her glamorous touches, Bree's with a traditional feel, Lynette's with its warm homeliness and then was Susan Mayer's... aka The Dream. Its skylight windows, island kitchen counter and warm, peachy walls made it the epitome of cosy. We just want to sit and have some coffee and cake at Susan's kitchen table.
Claire's bedroom - Aquamarine
From its ocean-themed trinkets, ruffly curtains and doors that opened onto the beach (literally), we wanted to swap Claire from Aquamarine's bedroom with ours.
Carrie's walk-in wardrobe - Sex and the City
There were loads of gorgeous locations in Sex and the City, what with characters like Charlotte Goldenblatt and Samantha Jones in cast. But Carrie Bradshaw's walk-in wardrobe was seriously the show-stealer. It homed Carrie's many, many designer garments and played host to getting ready scenes galore. One day...
Cher's virtual wardrobe - Clueless
On the subject of lust-worthy wardrobes, we bring you Cher Horowitz virtual closet. Back in 1995 when Clueless came out, Cher's computed activated wardrobe (which allowed her to browse outfits electronically and 'try them on' on screen) was the stuff of our teenage fantasies.
Belle's library - Beauty and the Beast
For a lover of books, Belle's library from Beauty and the Beast was pure goals.
Bridget's London home - Bridget Jones's Diary
Though it was the setting for many a tear-filled, lonely karaoke session, Bridget Jones's London-based flat was also pretty perfect for a London singleton. And it was so cosy. Remember that scene where she had her friends round for dinner on her birthday? We wanted to be invited.
The Cohen's pool house - The O.C.
The Cohen family pool house from The O.C. was the setting for dramas and teenage snogging aplenty. It was also where Ryan lived for a large portion of the show. And guess what? We wanted it.
The Harper family home - Friends With Benefits
In Friends With Benefits, Dylan whisks Jamie away from the hustle and bustle of New York to his Malibu-based family home on the West Coast. We dreamt of going out and having breakfast on the veranda which lead right on to the beach, followed by some jet skiing. It would be totally OK if Justin Timberlake was there, too.
Jay Gatsby's mansion - The Great Gatsby
As the plot goes, no expense was spared in the building of Jay Gatsby's West Egg home. And this certainly rings true in the Baz Luhrmann adaptation of the novel. Remember the scene with Jay's party? We wouldn't mind throwing our next birthday there...

Wallace and Gromit's home was always full of so many cool (sometimes dysfunctional) inventions. Who didn't want their mechanical wake up routine? And the Wensleydale. Oh, the Wensleydale...
The Tenenbaums house - The Royal Tenenbaums
The family home in the The Royal Tenenbaums was brilliant for its fantastical decor and highly-stylised interiors.
We particularly love the upstairs ballroom.

Richie from Richie Rich had a McDonalds IN. HIS. HOUSE. Enough said.
Noah's house - The Notebook
We want to live in Noah's stunning house from The Notebook, with its white exterior and blue shutters. The sentiment behind it makes us love it even more, too. Lets not forget he promised Allie he'd fix it up and worked tirelessly for years to do so. All for her. So romantic.
The Banks family home - Father of the Bride
The Banks family home in Father of the Bride was your archetypal American, suburban movie home (that we wished we'd lived in). It was white panelled, had shuttered windows... and was bloomin' MASSIVE.
Blair Waldorf's penthouse - Gossip Girl
Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl lived in a ultra-exclusive Fifth Avenue penthouse apartment. It was pure luxe heaven, and we wanted every inch of it.
