If you're anything like me, anything to do with finance probably makes your head spin. From Help to Buy ISAs to overdrafts, mortgages to six months up front, saving to spending and taxes to credit cards – there's a lot to think about and it can really make you dizzy.
With schools prioritising algebra over financial education, it's easy to see why so many of us find money an absolute minefield. It's crazy that I didn't understand tax properly until I was in my twenties, and it's absolute madness that nobody teaches you about earning or saving while at such a young, impressionable age.
Last year, GLAMOUR reported that a study by UBS showed that 63% of millennial women in the UK were leaving it down to their husbands to make long-term financial decisions, with 85% feeling that their male partner knew more about investing than they did.
A survey by investing app Moneybox in 2019 revealed that seven out of 10 millennial women say they have never been taught to manage money – so it's vital that we take the control into our own hands and educate ourselves so that we can have financial freedom while earning, saving, spending and investing.
