London Fashion Week: The Top Ten

From best show to best dressed front row, here are the ten need-to-know things we saw, loved and lusted after at London Fashion Week

Night one saw us hitting up the Vivienne Westwood Get A Life Palladium bash – along with a list of fashion names as long as our arms it seemed. An impromptu performance by Jessie J; a spot of Olivia Palermo, Vivienne Westwood and every famous model under the sun; and a few glasses of champagne (okay, maybe more than a few) later and we were tottering our 5 inch wedges back to bed.

It was an Alexa v. Olivia fash-off, as these two It-girls from either side of the pond popped up on tonnes of front rows and plenty of parties, in a succession of ever-cute outfits.

...as always was <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/Burberry_Prorsum/full-length-photos target=_new>Burberry</a>, where guests including Kate Bosworth, Daisy Lowe and Lily Donaldson were treated to real snow. The show even drew fashion lover Rachel Bilson on a 15 hour flight from her sunny California home to drizzly London. Now that’s dedication.

Young Brit designer and British Fashion Award winner <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/holly_fulton/full-length-photos target=_new>Holly Fulton</a>. As Editor Jo Elvin put it, “The maxi is here to stay, and Holly's are beautiful wispy satin things in all manner of whimsical prints. Teamed with her pearl-encrusted T = Great Gatsby Glamour at its best.”

This prize has to go to <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/Louise_Gray/full-length-photos target=_new>Louise Gray</a> who stuck two fingers up to winter by dressing her models in the brightest, sparkliest pieces she could design – and then sending them down a hyper-cool polka dot runway.
GoRunway.comBiggest Beauty Trend
Ditch the vampish berry lip shades and liner pens we’ve been wearing for the last few winters – next autumn the ‘fresh face’ is what it’s all about. Dab in a little nude lipstick and define your brows for a subtly 60s-inspired look.

Forget multi-coloured feather capes (<a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/Vivienne_Westwood_Red_Label/full-length-photos target=_new>Vivienne Westwood</a>) and <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/mary_katrantzou/full-length-photos target=_new>Mary Katrantzou</a>’s trademark hip-exaggerating lampshade skirts, <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/TopShop_Unique/full-length-photos target=_new>Topshop Unique</a> is where all the cool girls find their day-to-day inspiration – and if there’s one thing we need in our wardrobes next season, it’s this dalmation faux fur coat. It’ll be a sell-out, trust us.
GoRunway.comShow Everyone Was Talking About
You know what your wardrobe is missing? Liquid, according to <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/Christopher_Kane/full-length-photos target=_new>Christopher Kane</a>, whose gel-filled panels on sophisticated shift dresses, halternecks and clutch bags had all the fashion editors scribbling, Tweeting and whispering during his triumphant show.

Swapping our usually downbeat winter greys, blacks and whites for a burst of autumn colour come September. Make like the <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/Burberry_Prorsum/full-length-photos target=_new>Burberry</a> models and sashay your way through next winter in a rainbow of oranges, reds, greens and yellows.

Batman hats, as seen at <a href=https://beautysale.store/fashion/catwalk/AW2011/ReadyToWear/london/PPQ/full-length-photos target=_new>PPQ</a>. Oh-so-cool on the catwalk, maybe not so much in the office?!
