Everyone's favourite actress and all-round awesome person Jennifer Lawrence, has announced that she'll be taking a break from acting to focus on another passion - political activism.

She told Entertainment Tonight that she'll be putting acting to one side for a year, but she definitely won't be having any sort of 'break', that's for sure.

The 27-year-old explained,

"I'm going to take the next year off. I'm going to be working with this organization as a part of Represent.Us ... trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level."

"It doesn't have anything to do with partisan [politics]. It's just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy."

It isn't her first move into activism; in December, she accepted the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at The Hollywood Reporter's 2017 Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast in Los Angeles, where she revealed her inspiration for standing up for women's rights.

"It’s not easy to speak out. It’s not easy to face criticism on a global scale. But the fact is I have been given a platform, and if I don’t use it, then I don’t deserve it. This last year has been a trying and challenging time in our world and our industry specifically. Every day, we wake up to a myriad of headlines that deeply impact us, from around the globe."

She's also been spotted at plenty of political marches and even recently appeared at an Ohio school where she spoke to them about being active in politics.

Fair play Jennifer, we think it's amazing that you want to use your platform to do some good in this world, Lord knows we need it.
