15 times Jared Leto didn't care about the fashion rules
Jared Leto's style has fluctuated over his three-decade career, but one thing has remained - he has always done his own thing.
He had long hair when most men had theirs short, wore satin shirts when polos were in and loved black eyeliner in the early emo days of his career. He was an early pioneer of the beard, dabbled in wearing in papal-inspired tuncs and crowns and we can't offer enough praise to his recent commitment to Gucci.
There's not many men or women who would brave Versailles-worthy dress coats or Willy Wonka-esque clashing brights, but Leto doesn't care what you think. He looks like he's having a great time.

The Versailles years
If Marie Antoinette hadn't be savagely guillotined, then she might have worn this recent velvet dress coat adorned with ornate gold embroidery (also by Gucci, obviously).
The pyjama dressing years
As part of Leto's intense Gucci infatuation (we totally get it pal), the actor really took to the brand's pyjama-like suit jackets during award season 2016. He loves himself a pistol fingers move.
The Spanish wedding singer years
Again, we're exaggerating a little by using the word 'year', but for the sake of consistency we'll continue. To hell with all the bad associations of white suits you might have (wedding singers, Gareth Gates, Westlife etc), Leto likes his Gucci white tux.
The Papal years
If you don't make it as Jesus, why not try for the Pope? A truly special look, complete with crown and embroidered papal robe, at a 2014 performance in LA.
The Jesus years
Then came the long Jesus-like, long hair and penchant for bedraggled looking scarves. It was around this time (2014), that his facial hair really came alive.
The punk years
From grunge to punk, he bravely went for a pink mohawk and leather studded trousers on stage in 2010. A committed look.
The Cobain years
In 2009, he went grunge, sporting Kurt Cobain-inspired, dirty blonde locks and aviator shades. Inside. In a dark fashion show venue.
The sombrero years
To be fair, we're pretty sure Leto's brief love-in with the sombrero lasted no longer than this Thirty Seconds to Mars performance back in 2007, but we'd wager that if you gave Leto this hat now he'd still wear it. He's fun like that.
The emo years
Fast forward 10 years and leto has embraced eyeliner, mascara and wearing all black as part of his emo phase. Note the painted nails too.

Back in 2004, he was a doppleganger for a certain Zac Efron, who clearly pilfered Leto's clean-cut look.
The Gallagher brother years
Clearly feeling the influence of Liam and Noel Gallagher in his tracksuit top at the Sleepers premiere in 1996.
The satin shirt years
We can't work out whether this shirt is satin or silk, but as it was worn in the earlier part of Leto's career at 1995's How To Make An American Quilt (sounds riveting right?), we're tempted to say the former.
