The "skin patting" method is the latest skincare craze to come out of the Asian country.

So what on earth is it? As the name suggests, it quite literally involves gently patting your face to help stimulate blood flow. Simples.

The technique, which was coined by skincare company Hada Labo, is the skincare ritual that Japanese women incorporate into their regime every single day to keep their skin looking youthful and glowing.

The method involves warming up different oils and serums by rubbing between the palms of the hands and then systematically patting the lotions and potions onto the face and neck.

According to Japanese skincare experts at Hada Labo, this patting technique enhances absorption.

Paired with circulation-boosting massage and other pampering rituals, the experts say it yields "luxuriously effective results".
