Jade Goody: Her Life In Pictures

Jade Goody burst onto our screens in 2002 when she appeared on Big Brother 3. Her larger-than-life personality and lack of general knowledge made her a controversial tabloid star.

Jade started dating TV presenter Jeff Brazier in 2003. The pair famously switched places with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant Charles Ingram in Celebrity Wife Swap – with hilarious consequences.

Jeff and Jade had two sons together, Bobby and Freddie, but finally decided to call it a day on their relationship in 2005.

Unlike most Big Brother contestants, Jade managed to remain in the spotlight even after the show finished. She was a regular at red carpet events including here at BBC’s TV Moments.

Jade went on to launch her own fragrance, appropriately called Controversy.

Jade took part in the London Marathon in 2006 but had to drop out after 21 miles due to exhaustion. Later the star admitted that her training included “Chinese food, curry and drinking”.

Jade got her own TV show in 2006; Jade’s PA followed the prospective candidates hoping to bag the job of being Jade’s personal assistant.

Jade’s celebrity status has led her to meet some of the world’s most eligible men. In 2007 she was spotted leaving a Mayfair nightclub on the arm of the Sultan Of Brunei’s son, Prince Azim.

Jade appeared on Celebrity Big Brother 5 but hit headlines for all the wrong reasons after she was accused of making racist comments about Indian actress Shilpa Shetty.

Jade Goody went on to star in Indian Big Brother, and was reunited with the show's presenter Shilpa Shetty

But the show didn't pan out as expected. Jade was told in the Big Brother house that she had cervical cancer and was quickly flown back home to London.

Jade battled cervical cancer but after doctors told her that it had spread, the star concentrated on raising awareness of the disease and making money for her sons’ education.

Jade’s tempestuous relationship with part-time model Jack Tweed was the subject of many tabloid stories throughout 2007/8. But with Jade’s cancer diagnosis, the pair decided to tie the knot in March 2009.

Jade lost her battle with cancer on 22 March 2009. After a string of magazine and TV deals, the star has left a £4m legacy for her sons and increased the number of women getting cervical smears by up to 50%.
