Makes The List Because: She’ll fly onto our radar early in the year as a young Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady and after that, the projects won’t stop a-coming. GLAMOUR named Alexandra as one of its ‘ones to watch’ culture-wise in 2012, and we’re predicting big things for her on the fashion plane, too. Having cast off Maggie’s Conservative togs, she began filming Anna Karenina with Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson and Matthew Macfadyen; we’re already looking forward to seeing collections inspired by the opulence of 19th Century Russia come autumn/winter 2013.

Yes, you heard that right: she’s starring opposite Robert Pattinson . That’s a recipe for A-list success if ever we heard one. This classic, blue-eyed Canadian beauty has screen-siren-in-the-making written all over her.

And who’s to blame her? Her next film, Welcome To The Punch – in which she stars alongside James McAvoy – is currently in post-production, so it won’t be long till she’s gracing the red carpet again. In terms of her own personal style, Saoirse isn’t one to follow the rules (oh, how we loved the Chanel, pictured, that she wore to the premiere of Hanna!), so we’ll be watching her every sartorial move with anticipation next year.

How she managed to drag herself away from boyfriend (and Vampire Diaries co-star) Ian Somerhalder to film it, we’ll never know... A prestigious spot in a Burberry campaign swiftly followed, and it was announced in early December that she’d been signed as the new face of Dolce & Gabbana make-up. Style-wise, they’re boho with a tough-girl edge; this marries perfectly with their brand of music, which is best described as folky rock ‘n’ roll with a fire and brimstone edge.
