When: 29 March 2013
Why? Because it’s Olympic Opening Ceremony hero Danny Boyle’s first movie since the sporting event last summer. This time, the director – who got together with lead actress Rosario Dawson during filming – tells the tale of an art auctioneer who finds himself on a quest to uncover a lost painting after getting in with a criminal gang.
FILM: The Place Beyond The Pines
Starring: Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes

Why? We’re more than happy to watch Ryan Gosling play a stunt driver all over again in this Derek Cianfrance drama. We’re even happier to see him do it alongside Bradley Cooper. So much hot man… So little time.

Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch plays an abominable intergalactic baddie. Never has the term ‘must-see’ rang truer.

Why? The BBC’s slightly less (but not really – they do see them as soon as they turn round in those chairs) appearance-based singing talent show returns for a second series. See a freshly sheered Jessie J, Will.I.Am and co argue it out for the best teams as the auditions get underway in March.

Why? We’re just curious, to be honest. Simon Cowell’s latest reality TV format takes edible shape in this competition to find the best dish in Britain. The winner gets £20,000 and their creation on the shelves of Marks & Spencer. “In a weird way, it’s like Antiques Roadshow combined with food. It’s about people’s individual recipes that might have been passed down over three generations. It could be about the rivalry between two people in the same village who think they’ve got the best lemon cake,” he said of the show. Hmm…
