Imagine waking up and finding Jeff from finance naked next to you in your bed. Or how about remembering that you told your boss if she only lost 2 stone, she'd be really pretty? If these are the kind of situations you'd rather avoid, then read our simple yet golden rules to that annual freak-show that is...the office Christmas party.
iStockDo get your hair done at the hairdressers at lunchtime, but don’t go for a style that you’ve never tried before. Believe us when we say that beehive might have looked good on Bardot but it might not have the same result on you. If you really want to make an impression, do practise beforehand and make sure the hairdresser is fully clued-up on your chosen style.
Rex FeaturesDo pace yourself and prepare for the inevitable over-indulgence on free wine – it’s the key to having a good time, and not falling flat on your face within the first hour. While you’re at it, do make sure you drink a glass of water every other drink and line your stomach with a proper meal before you begin. You’re in it for the long haul when it comes to this kind of day-long drinking, so stay sensible and you’ll reap the benefits as the alcohol fog clears the next day.
iStockDo make a pact with your girlfriends to keep beer goggles in their cases for the night. Otherwise you may end up having an inappropriate romantic liaison that’ll have you cringing all the way into work the morning after.

iStockDo steer clear of colleagues you don’t get on with, too – you’re more likely to find yourself in sticky arguments in this kind of awkward social situation, and with all that company-funded vodka inside you, you can guarantee they won’t be the most logical points you’ve ever made.
