"For the past couple of years they’ve both been finding it difficult to make proper time for one another and, with their schedules showing no signs of slowing down, have decided to go their separate ways. It’s sad but they remain supportive of one another."

The couple met by chance when they were walking their dogs on Clapham Common, and got married in 2000.

J-Law is officially single. The actress and her director boyfriend Darren Aronofsky, have reportedly called it quits in the end of October - after dating for over a year. Sources have confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that it was an "amicable split" and they will "remain friends".

The couple took to Facebook to announce the news in a heartbreaking statement that said: "We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed ... Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward". The 38-year-old 'Passengers' star and 40-year-old 'Mom' actress got married in 2009 and have a 4-year-old son named Jack.
