Celebrity Interview Hiccups

When the stars let things slip - or just go off the rails
AP/PA PhotosJack Black had to make his apologies to Angelina Jolie in 2008 when he accidentally let slip that she was having twins during a TV interview in Cannes. “You’re gonna have as many as (the) Brady Bunch when you have these,” the actor said to his Kung Fu Panda co-star. “Yeah, yeah, we’ve confirmed that already,” Jolie answered, adding: “Well, Jack’s just confirmed it actually.” Oops.
Big PicturesTalk about kiss and tell! Musician John Mayer described his ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson in rather explicit terms during an interview with Playboy: "Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me. Sexually it was crazy. That's all I'll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm." Nice.
WENNTom Cruise showed his crazy side in 2005 when he professed his love for Katie Holmes by jumping on Oprah Winfrey’s sofa. The star apparently: "jumped around the set, hopped onto a couch, fell to one knee and repeatedly professed his love for his new girlfriend".
WennJessica Alba found herself a little tongue-tied when she questioned a journalist about Barack Obama’s prospects in office. "Be neutral ... Be Sweden about it." We think she meant Switzerland.
Rex FeaturesBrooke Shields became so passionate during an anti-smoking interview, she didn’t stop to think what she was actually saying. “Smoking kills. If you’re killed, you’ve lost a very important part of your life.”
Rex FeaturesMegan Fox didn’t hold back when asked about how she felt about the Transformers director Michael Bay. “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward,” she said. No wonder she wasn’t asked to return for Transformers 3.
Rex FeaturesWhitney Houston went on Diane Sawyer’s show in 2002 to address the rumours of her drug abuse and marriage breakdown – but it didn’t quite go to plan. When asked about her alleged substance addiction, the singer said: "First of all, let's get one thing straight. Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack. Let's get that straight. Okay? We don't do crack. We don't do that. Crack is wack." The line became infamous but Whitney has since come back to put that part of her life behind her.
PA PhotosQuentin Tarantino didn’t take too kindly to one interviewer who insisted on questioning him about the violence in his movies. “You're talking about real life. I'm talking about movies." he exploded. Later adding: "I didn't make this movie for you."
PA PhotosNo one knew quite what was going on when Joaquin Phoenix appeared on David Letterman to promote his movie, Two Lovers. The actor was either monosyllabic or gave bizarre answers to the talk show host’s questions. Letterman ended the interview by saying: "Joaquin, I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight." But it turned out that it was all for his mockumentary, I’m Still Here.
rex featuresBritney Spears might be in need of a geography lesson or two. After being asked about her tour, the singer said: "I get to go to lots of overseas places, like Canada."
PA PhotosAnd she’s not the only one. Fellow Mickey Mouse star Christina Aguilera famously asked journalists: "So, where's the Cannes Film Festival being held this year?" We’re give you a clue!
WENNJessica Alba again. This time she was talking about her relationship with her film producer husband Cash Warren. "I'm way too high-maintenance to be in a relationship with an actor - they're all such divas!" Pot calling kettle black comes to mind!
WENNMeg Ryan didn’t exactly hit it off with interviewer Michael Parkinson when she went on his show in October 2003. After giving one-word answers to most of his questions, the veteran host asked Meg what her what she would do if she was in his position now. She said: “just wrap it up” and later complained that he treated her like a disapproving father.
