BRITs 2012

We're reporting live from the Brits 2012 - see all the celebrity dresses, gossip & pictures as the action unfolds
Rex FeaturesFlorence Welch was one of the early arrivals to the ceremony in this striking Alexander McQueen dress, which showed off her slightly shorter, slightly darker new ‘do. She accessorised with metallic sandals and elaborate gold jewellery on her hands.
Florence was nominated for British Female Solo Artist and Album Of The Year, and is performing at this year's show.
PA PhotosOlly Murs worked a spotted tie with this monochrome outfit at the BRITs. He accessorised with a cheeky grin.
PA PhotosChristina Perri put her arm tattoos on full show in this sheer red dress at this year’s BRITs.
PA PhotosEmili Sandé already knew that she'd scooped the BRITs Critics Choice Award when she arrived on the red carpet, so it was no wonder she looked so relaxed. Monochrome seemed to be the early trend of the evening and the singer wore a demure shirt dress with a skinny belt, posing her her hand on her hip to how off her Solange Azagury-Partridge Aries ring.
Rex FeaturesEd Sheeran, nominated for four awards, played it exceedingly cool in a navy suit and trainers.
Rex FeaturesPresenter Laura Whitmore played it safe, sartorially-speaking, in a LBD. She let her accessories do the talking via a pair heels in the season’s hottest colour, yellow, and a sweet boom box pendant.
Rex FeaturesKatie Melua looked stunning in this butterfly-inspired little black dress, which she cinched-in at the waist with a patent belt.
PA PhotosVictoria Pendleton, the British world champion track cyclist, hit the BRITs red carpet in a stunning zip-up white cocktail dress by super-hip London label Krystof Strozyna, which she deftly accessorised with Miquella jewellery and a pink clutch. We're impressed.
PA PhotosCaroline Flack stuck to usual tried-and-trusted fashion formula of blazer and smart short shorts. A slick of red lippy completes her racy look - no doubt, she’s hoping to turn Harry’s head tonight.
PA PhotosJo Whiley stuck to classic black and reved up her sophisticated asymettric dress with statement jewels.
PA PhotosLooking demure in a monochrome dress, Sara Cox wowed her fashion critics in a printed dress and understated accessories.
PA PhotosLooking gorgeous, Fearne Cotton left her usual rock ’n’ roll cocktail frocks in her wardrobe and reached for an embellished blouse and daring micro-mini skirt by Miu Miu. Even though this is subtle outfit, she still kicked up a stylish storm.
PA PhotosWitty host for the evening James Corden has had a busy week - we spotted him front row at London Fashion Week schmoozing with Harry Styles. Hanging out with the fash pack has clearly rubbed off as he looked dapper in a slick suit.
PA PhotosAlways a hoot on the red carpet, Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon showed off his patriotic side with a peek-a-boo Union Jack jacket.
PA PhotosHooray for the boys! Chase and Status oozed personality as they posed for the paps, both wearing sharp outfits that’ll no doubt earn them inches in men’s style columns.
PA PhotosCheeky chappy Dizzee Rascal rocked up to the Brits looking quietly confident - and ready for a party.
PA PhotosAlexa Chung’s friend Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson of Hurts stuck to their style guns in suits, boots & slick tailoring. The duo may not have been nominated for gongs, but still cut an ice cool presence at the show.
PA PhotosSticking to the classic style combo of red and black, Pixie Lott teamed a red velvet clutch with her Dolce & Gabbana lace dress to contend with her contemporaries for the title of best dressed of the evening.
PA PhotosLydia Bright looked svelte and sophisticated in a baby pink dress dripping with diamanté and jewels.
PA PhotosThe Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright joined the red trousers brigade. He topped off his slick shirt and tie combo with a tweed jacket - how very British!
PA PhotosPlan B pouted to the camera as he strutted onto the red carpet in a grey Emporio Armani suit. If looks could kill...
PA PhotosHola, señorita! Jessie J added a hot, flamenco twist to the night’s red carpet arrivals in this dramatic fishtail gown, which didn’t quite conceal her underwear.
PA PhotosRising star Amanda Reifer, of Bajan four-piece Cover Drive, has been tipped as the new Rihanna – and, if this super-sexy look is anything to go by, she’s certainly got the confidence to pull it off. (Sky-high heels always help, and this pair is by high street label Simmi. Awesomeness.)
PA PhotosDave Berry, in a plaid three-piece, arrived for the ceremony with a Hervé Léger-clad Lisa Snowdon on his arm. Alright for some.
PA PhotosSpice Girl turned radio presenter Emma Bunton preserved her modesty in her sheer lace dress by layering it over a black slip and thick tights. She may not be a Baby anymore, but she’s still sweet!
PA PicturesAfter such an impressive sweep of wins at the Grammys, all eyes were on Adele as she sashayed onto the red carpet in sheer black dress by Burberry.
PA PicturesWhile Adele stood out in black, Lana Del Rey opted for a take-no-prisoners, off-the-shoulder red dress by Vivienne Westwood and matching nail enamel (naturally). She topped off her look with a sweet smile.
REX FeaturesKylie left her golden hot pants back in the fashion archive and wore a stunning blue strapless gown by YSL, made complete with a sparkling brooch placed deftly on her slinky waistline.
PA PicturesRihanna pulled no punches at the BRITs this year as she rocked up in a sexy, shimmering Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci dress (complete with a thigh-high split and plunging neckline) and cheeky leather gloves. Not many stars could pull off this much bling - you go, girl!
REX FeaturesHolly Willoughby shows off her buxom figure in a plunging LBD that dares to give Jessie J’s revealing outfit a race to the most sassy outfit gong.
REX FeaturesAlexandra Burke looked other-worldly in a directional dress with wooden décolletage detail by Alpana & Neeraj. The fashion desk didn’t see this one coming! Plus, we were loving her long plait and Cleopatra-esque eyeliner.
REX FeaturesRita Ora looked super hot in a shimmering white sequin dress that she dolled up with high octane sparkle and her signature amplified make-up. And we don't blame her one bit for giving a flash of those ah-mazing Christian Louboutin Un Bout pink-tipped shoes.
REX FeaturesMillie Mackintosh, our celebrity backstage blogger at LFW, looked simply stunning in a jade green number and metallic strappy heels. Plus, with her new boyfriend Professor Green (clad in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci) at her side, she looked like the ultimate It-girl.

REX FeaturesNicole Scherzinger took the plunge and sported a lemon yellow dress - how very on-trend for spring/summer 2012! Complete with studs and a cheeky cleavage, the star turned plenty of heads.
REX FeaturesLittle Mix lit up the red capret with their statement-making outfits, which seemed to cover all trends and colours. Uncharacteristically, the four girls all choose to wear towering high platforms so they could totter down the runway together.
REX FeaturesLooking the epitome of dapper, the One Direction boys made all the girls swoon as they stomped onto the red carpet in slick suits - complete with chic pocket squares and kooky shirts.
REX FeaturesPaloma Faith sticks to her favourite look: kooky and oh-so-retro. Hey, if it ain’t broken, then why fix it? Her standout dress is by Dolce & Gabbana.
PA PicturesJLS left overt colour co-ordination to the One Direction boys and sported urbane separates and matching smiles - bar Aston, who looked smooth ’n’ serious.
PA PicturesNot many male stars could pull off a startling white bow tie and a tomato red shirt quite like Will.i.am! Complete with geeky specs, he competed with Marcus Collins for loudest look.
REX FeaturesMarcus Collins stood out from the crowd in an electric yellow vest that drew attention to his impressive grooming regime.
REX FeaturesAbbey Clancy chose to wear a 60s-style baby doll dress, a perfect blow-dry - and, of course, a pout!
REX FeautresCher Lloyd looked futuristic and fabulous in a sparkling purple all-in-one that she completed with cheeky Christian Louboutin heels.
PA PicturesAdele looked emotional as she accepted her first award of the night, for Best British Female Solo Artist.
PA PicturesColdplay’s Chris Martin brightened up the stage with some glow-in-the-dark paint. (And some brilliant music, of course.)
PA PicturesShe didn’t have the nervous wait like the rest of the nominees, but Emeli Sandé looked just as thrilled to be clutching her Critics' Choice Brit Award.
PA PicturesEd Sheeran went for some classic eyes closed, mouth open warbling for his performance.
PA PicturesLook closely: yes, Florence Welch is in fact levitating on-stage at the Brits. Or, we may have just snapped her mid-jump during her gorgeous performance...
PA Pictures...For which she wore a beautiful white dress.
PA PicturesJessie J looked suddenly sheepish when she stepped out on stage with comedian Jack Whitehall. You know that dream where you step at the O2 and realise you’re wearing just your underwear...?
PA PicturesKylie hit the stage to present Adele with the award for Best Female Solo Artist. She looked gorgeous in her blue YSL gown.
All the news live from The BRITs 2012
PA PicturesOlly Murs burst on-stage for a typically lively rendition of My Heart Skips A Beat.
PA PicturesDoing the hump, Olly? Mr Murs gets down with collaborators Rizzle Kicks.
PA PicturesHaving changed into an embellished black dress by her go-to label, Clements Ribeiro, Adele once again stole the show with a sterling performance of Rolling In The Deep.
PA PicturesColdplay scooped the award for Best British Band, having also won the award in 2001 and 2003.
PA PicturesEd Sheeran won Best British Breakthrough and Best British Male Solo Artist.
PA PicturesOne Direction looked slightly shell-shocked at being awarded the Brit for Best British Single.
PA PicturesOnce composed, the boys made a rousing acceptance speech. Harry said: "We want to say a massive thank you to the fans. Everything we do is for you and this is for you.”
PA PicturesJenson Button presented the award for Best International Female to...
PA Pictures...Rihanna! The singer said in her acceptance speech: "At times when I feel misunderstood, my fans always remind me that it's OK to be myself, and I'll never forget you for that. Thank you."
PA PicturesJames Corden kept things running smoothly in his usual manner - that is, until he was forced to cut Adele's second acceptance speech short, causing quite the controversy. Oh, dear.
PA PicturesNoel Gallagher had one of the most talked-about performances of the night, partly thanks to having the Chris Martin accompanying him on the piano.
PA PicturesTinie Tempah looked pretty excited to be onstage at the BRITs - even if he was only there to present an award.
PA PicturesBlur were awarded the Outstanding Contribution To Music award. Cue a trip down memory lane and much 90s-style dancing in living rooms nationwide.
PA PicturesA newly-recovered George Michael was on-stage to present the prize for Album Of The Year.
All the news live from The BRITs 2012
PA PicturesAfter a pretty lengthy acceptance speech, Best International Male Bruno Mars looked especially dapper in his Dolce & Gabbana suit and two-tone Louboutin loafers as he took to the stage to perform a hip-swinging, Motown-esque rendition of Just The Way You Are. His appearance topped off what can only be described as a phenomenal year for the Hawaiian hit-maker.
PA PicturesThe, frankly, bizarre pairing of footballer Cesc Fabregas and – to quote BRITs 2012 host James Corden, “the only Pussycat Doll you’ve heard of” - Nicole Scherzinger presented the Best Breakthrough Act to flamed-haired hit-maker Ed Sheeran. It was the first of his two gongs for the evening.
PA PicturesToo-cool-for-school smoothie Huey Morgan of Fun Lovin’ Criminals fame teamed up with Radio One’s Jo Whiley to present Best British Group to Coldplay. It was the third time they’ve won the gong.
PA PicturesBRITs 2012 Best International Breakthrough Act Lana Del Rey looked very ‘red carpet’ with her sleek red gown and movie star hair, but a little bemused as she accepted her gong. Perhaps the odd pairing of Will.I.Am and Rob Brydon (?) presenting her with the award threw her? Or perhaps it was Will.I.Am’s baffling hosting – during which he stumbled over his words and said "oops" three times?
PA PicturesA smoking-hot Rihanna - named Best International Female at the BRITs 2012 for the second year running - got the O2 rocking with a raunchy rendition of hit We Found Love. We, however, were more impressed with how she managed to transform her barnet from a sleek chignon to this mad mass of curls in a matter of minutes.
PA PicturesWhich BRITs honcho dreamed up this pairing? Will.I.Am and Rob Brydon of Gavin and Stacey fame joined forces to present the Best International Breakthrough Act. Rob got a fair few laughs when he introduced himself as Rob.I.Am – whereas Will.I.Am was, frankly, strange... And seemed unsure as to why he was there!
PA PhotosLittle Mix were looking very day-glo as they arrived at the BRITs party at the Dover Street Arts Club. The newbies on the block will be hoping to emulate the success of fellow X Factor contestants One Direction, who walked away last night with the Best Single BRIT.
Rex FeaturesAdele clutched her two BRIT awards – for Solo Artist and the coveted Best British Album Of The Year. The singer said that coming home to the 02 after winning at the BRITs made her “proud to be British”. The singer caused further excitement as she was spotted with a ring on her wedding finger.
Rex FeaturesRihanna couldn’t hide her excitement after scooping the coveted Best International Female award. And who could blame her?
WennFresh from her BRITs performance just hours earlier, Rihanna was seen leaving London hotspot Mahiki in a pair of superstar Miu Miu sunglasses. The singer was toasting her success after bagging the Best International Female gong.
PA PhotosEthereal and edgy, Florence Welch swapped her lengthy red carpet Alexander McQueen gown for this shorter ‘party’ version – without compromising on the glam factor - to hit the BRITs 2012 after party at the Tate Modern.
PA PhotosA super-slim ‘yummy mummy’ Abbey Clancy flaunted her pins in this micro, sugary-sweet pink dress and tuxedo jacket combo at the BRITs 2012 after party.
PA PhotosEver the wallflower - Jessie J swapped her ‘red carpet’ get-up for attention-grabbing lycra when she rocked up to the BRITs 2012 after party in London last night. The star might not have walked away with any gongs but she seemed pleased-as-punch with her wardrobe choice.
PA PhotosSticking to the failsafe ‘black and red = glamour’ formula, Pixie Lott hit the BRITs 2012 after party in this structured red frock with killer heels and a cheeky handbag. The star didn’t bag the Best Single gong but still had a smile for the waiting paps.
PA PhotosTopshop honcho Sir Philip Green and Made In Chelsea star daughter Chloe Green were snapped entering the BRITs 2012 after party in London last night. Chloe, of course, wore the latest ‘It’ dress – Mary Katrantzou For Topshop’s £350 printed frock...a day after a host of other British stars have donned it on the red carpet. Oops!
Rex FeaturesX Factor winner Alexandra Burke and Topshop heiress Chloe Green looked chummy as they left the BRITs 2012 after party at the Tate Modern last night. They needed each other to lean on after dancing up a storm all night in a pair of (painful) killer heels. We’ve been there!
Rex FeaturesTOWIE’s Lydia Bright looked surprisingly elegant in this embellished, nude gown at last night’s BRITs 2012 after party. She accessorised with red carpet curls, a clutch and a cocktail.
Rex FeaturesPresenter Nick Grimshaw and One Direction hunk Harry Styles flew the flag for British geek chic as they posed in these especially dapper get-ups at the BRITs 2012 after party last night.
Rex FeaturesAhhh. Pop’s ‘It’ couple Rochelle Wiseman and Marvin Humes looked cosy as they hit the BRITs 2012 after party in London last night. The pair have confirmed their engagement but are yet to set a date. What a pop-tastic wedding party that’s sure to be!
PA PhotosAdele courted controversy after she flicked her middle finger during her acceptance speech. James Corden had been forced to interrupt the singer to introduce Blur, and the singer said later: "I was about to thank the British public for their support. They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me."
PA PhotosJLS missed out on a BRIT but the boys looked ready to party as they turned up to the Sony Party, held at the Dover Street Arts Club.
Rex FeaturesGoodbye Harry...Hello Nick? The Xtra Factor’s Caroline Flack looked a little sheepish as she was papped leaving the BRITs after party with presenter Nick Grimshaw last night. The pair were spotted hopping into a cab together after Caroline’s teenage dream Harry Styles of One Direction left the party with his band-mates.
Rex FeaturesRadio One DJ Nick Grimshaw was seen leaving the Sony BRITs afterparty - which took place in central London - with fellow presenter Caroline Flack. According to reports, the Xtra Factor presenter was seen avoiding her former flame, One Direction’s Harry Styles, during the evening.
WennIf anyone knows how to enjoy a good BRITs party, it’s Noel Gallagher! The former Oasis star performed with his new band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, but let his hair down afterwards in Soho.
DAVE M. BENETT/GETTY IMAGESIt appears everywhere One Direction’s Harry Styles goes – he is targeted by cougars. Since his split from The Xtra Factor’s Caroline Flack, the pin-up is surely one of pop’s most eligible bachelors. Judging by this snap at last night’s BRITs 2012 after-party, Jo Wood sure seems to think so...
DAVE M. BENETT/GETTY IMAGESOne Direction’s Louis Tomlinson looked super cute as he sipped his water (not very rock star!) at last night’s BRITs 2012 after party in London. The band bagged the gong for Best British Single, but, as host James Corden quipped, it was “lemonade and a kids’ meal” for them.
WennProving that the rumours are true, Professor Green stepped out with his new lady, Made In Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh last night at the BRITs.
WennAw. Love’s young dream, aka Millie Mackintosh and Professor Green, looked suitably cosy as they left the BRIT Awards.
DAVE M. BENETT/GETTY IMAGES90s Brit-pop enjoyed a revival at last night’s BRITs 2012 – and mended a few old feuds by the looks of things. Blur’s Damon Albarn and Oasis’ Noel Gallagher kissed and made up on the red carpet, 17 years after their infamous chart battle. Well, they are 40-something-year-old dads now, after all...
Rex FeaturesWhile his former girlfriend Caroline Flack was spotted leaving with Nick Grimshaw, One Direction’s Harry Styles was snapped leaving with his bandmates (not pictured), via the back door.

Aw, how sweet are they? Fearne Cotton cuddled up to her boyfriend Jesse Wood at the star-studded Warner Music BRITs aftershow party, which featured Bruno Mars, Plan B, Juliette Lewis, Matt Cardle and Holly Willoughby, among others.

Caroline Flack danced the night away at the Warner Music BRITs aftershow party – much to the amusement of Will Young, who we can just see smirking away in the background there. The night could have potentially been an awkward one for the star, as ex boyfriend Harry Styles turned up to the same event.

Rockin! Professor Green and Ed Sheeran partied together that the Warner Music BRITs aftershow party in London yesterday. The rapper raised a few eyebrows by debuting his latest squeeze at the awards – and then at the party – Made In Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh.
