So it turns out that taking selfies adds years to your skin... here's the miracle ingredient that will fix it

OK, so we knew that things like pollution, insomnia, smoking, forgetting our SPF and time itself can affect the quality and elasticity of the skin on our sweet little faces. But hands up who knew that selfies could? Not us.

New research released from Avon today suggests that the light from our mobile phones could be damaging our skin immensely. It's a bit concerning, when we start mentally tallying up how long we spend staring at blue-lit devices every day.

We're not the only ones clinging to our mobiles without knowing what they could be doing to our cheeks and eyes and foreheads. Apparently a quarter of 18-34 year olds spend seven hours or more a day on their mobile phone. Sixteen per cent of women spend nearly a third of their waking day on their phones. And just one in 10 people knew that the light from a mobile phone can age you.

We're clearly worried about our skin, of course, with 23 per cent of that same age group refusing to post a photo of themselves on social media without using a filter because of the way their skin looks.

The skincare experts at Avon, unsurprisingly, recommend their own product as the solution to all these ageing effects.
