Blake Lively channels Serena van der Woodsen in her It Ends With Us press tour looks
There's no such thing as too much floral, at least when it comes to Blake Lively's latest wardrobe while promoting her upcoming film It Ends With Us in theatres August 9.
While it could be easy to mistake the actress' latest looks for a sign of a Gossip Girl reboot (it's not, we checked), her bouquet of outfits lately is actually a clever nod to her character in the new romantic drama. Blake plays a character named Lily Bloom (get it?) who moves to Boston in the hopes opening a flower shop when she meets charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Bladoni of Jane the Virgin fame) and falls in love.
Days after announcing the launch of her beauty brand Blake Brown Beauty on Instagram, the actress was seen in a flurry of floral frocks in NYC, and maybe it's just the familiar Park Avenue backdrop, but some of them feel suspiciously close to what Serena van der Woodsen might wear. Who could forget that yellow floral halter-neck Ralph Lauren gown Serena wore to Lily and Bart's wedding in the season one finale. This time, Blake swapped her canary gown for lemony tights paired with a red floral mini dress and cherry-coloured heels.
The all-American sweetheart is often seen championing American designers on red carpets, so it was no surprise to see her wear a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta minidress which looked like an actual bouquet. But the actress also wore several runway looks by emerging NYC designer Olivia Cheng of Dauphinette.
For the crossover promotion of It Ends With Us and her sparkling beverages brand Betty Buzz, Blake created a “Betty Blooms” pop-up in Chelsea and arrived wearing a Barbie pink coat and coordinating minidress by Péro paired with a chainmail top that featured real pressed flowers encased in resin by Dauphinette. She even sprinkled fresh flowers in her braid to complete her goddess look. A day later she was spotted wearing an embellished fringed minidress with beaded scenes of fish and plants paired with a sparkly mushroom clutch (yes you read that right).
With so many stunning looks already on display, we can't wait to see what she'll wear for the premiere on Friday, but for now, here's all the proof you need that if someone can make florals groundbreaking, it's Blake Lively.
