Organic beauty treats that are great for your skin and the environment
Organic beauty has come a long way over the past decade. Previously a niche sub-section of the industry, it's now one of the most in-demand categories, and many brands are making strides to make their ingredients increasingly organic.
According to the most recent report from the Soil Association, 2021 saw a 15% growth of certified organic and natural beauty and wellbeing products (the 11th year of consecutive growth), amounting to £138.23million in total sales. The growth is understandable considering the increasing demand from shoppers. The report also found that 38% of shoppers said they have stopped purchasing certain beauty and wellbeing brands.
For those looking to make the switch to organic products, it's important to be able to verify claims made by brands about their ingredients sourcing. The best and easiest way to check whether something is organic is to look for the COSMOS or Soil Association logo on packaging, which has certified 46,000 products. It's also a good idea to keep an eye out for vegan, vegetarian, and fair trade logos, which should all be clearly displayed, for more information on the brand's values.
