11 pretty laser cut summer dresses you'll want immediately

If there's one thing you can expect to see at any stylish wedding this year, it's a guest wearing one of Self-Portrait's laser cut, lace dresses.

Elegant, feminine yet modern (and not to mention well-priced at £300 and under), the brand is a best-seller at both Selfridges and Net A Porter. In fact, Selfridges told our fashion editor, Lucy Walker, that it sells one every six minutes. Self-Portrait's pretty dresses have attracted a wide following, from Miranda Kerr to Reese Witherspoon, and they've had a big impact on the high street.

New Look's take on the style sold out within a week, forcing them to order more, while H&M's midi-length, white version is nearly completely sold out online. Warehouse, Topshop and Karen Millen have all coined similar copies.

The appeal? Well, it's nice to find a summer cocktail dress that a) isn't overpriced and b) doesn't make the wearer look like an aging member of the royal family. They're pretty without being old-fashioned.
