23 autumn TV shows you need to bookmark as sofa season begins

Let's face it: autumn TV shows are something we have been looking forward to all year long. With the cooler weather on the horizon (read: basically here), there's nothing better than cosying up on the sofa with some snacks and drinks with some incredible nail-biting television to watch.
The season for guilt-free watching has officially landed, and we couldn’t be more ready.

Fitting with the autumnal back-to-school vibes, Dear White People – inspired by the acclaimed film of the same name – follows the lives of students of colour studying at an American Ivy League university, navigating instances of social injustice, bias and activism alongside the coming-of-age experience of higher education.

Succession star Sarah Snook is returning to our small screens this autumn in All Her Fault – a TV adaptation of the bestselling novel by Andrea Mara.
The series will also star Dakota Fanning, with the intriguing synopsis reading as follows: “Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook) arrives to collect her young son Milo from his first playdate, but the woman who answers the door isn't a mother she recognises. She doesn't have Milo and has never heard of him. And so begins every parent's worst nightmare.”
The first four episodes of All Her Fault will debut on Sky and NOW on 7 November. Two new episodes will then drop every Friday until the finale on 21 November.

Starring Tom Hollander and Niamh Algar (known for Playing Nice and Malpractice), The Iris Affair will see "enigmatic genius Iris Nixon (Algar) crack a string of complex online puzzles, led to a piazza in Florence where she meets charismatic entrepreneur Cameron Beck (Hollander).
“He invites her to come and work for him to unlock a powerful and top-secret piece of technology. Her curiosity piqued, she accepts. But when Iris discovers its dangerous potential, she steals the journal containing the device’s activation sequence — and vanishes.”
The Iris Affair will launch this autumn on Sky and streaming service NOW.

This one is for fans of The Office. Starring Domhnall Gleeson, Tim Key, Sabrina Impacciatore and Ramona Young, The Paper sees the team behind The Office US create a mockumentary series following the efforts of a group of volunteer reporters trying to keep a Midwestern newspaper alive.
The Paper drops on Sky TV and NOW on 5 September.

Jessica Biel may have played the role of Candy Montgomery brilliantly in the Disney+ series Candy previously, but we finally get a chance to see Elizabeth Olsen take on the notorious real-life inspired role of the housewife driven to kill in suburban Texas in the new drama, Love & Death. The plot centres on picture-perfect churchgoing mother and wife, Candy, who was accused of killing her friend Betty Gore after embarking on an affair with Betty's husband, Allan. The crime was so sensationalised at the time that it hit headlines across the globe, and the real Candy is still alive today and living a quiet life in the state of Georgia.

Based on the novel of the same name by C.J. Tudor, The Burning Girls sees a Reverend and her daughter arrive in the village of Chapel Croft looking for a fresh start following a sudden loss. Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer star in this series, which chronicles the love story of two incredibly different men who forge a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on "subversives and sexual deviants". The couple's journey is followed over four decades, from the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s to the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. Girls star Allison Williams is also a part of the cast.
