This Arket puffer coat is worn by fashion editors and influencers every winter
It's finally puffer coat season, and if you're anything like us, you've been scrambling to find ‘the one’. Low and behold, the highly coveted It-girl Arket puffer coat is back on everyone's lips – and for good reason. Co-signed by countless influencers and celebrities over the past few years (from Hannah Crosskey to Alexis Foreman and Brittany Bathgate) its popularity has increased with every chilly season.
Flash back to February 2020, when the nationwide obsession first took off. Shopping platform Lyst (yes, the same ones who crowned Miu Miu the hottest brand of Q2 2025 and dubbed Alaïa’s jewelled ballet flats one of the year’s most-coveted buys) named Arket’s down puffer jacket among the ten most popular winter heroes last year. At the time, luxury fashion houses dominated the list—but Arket’s unisex, functional puffer managed to cut through.
The now-iconic longline version is crafted from recycled polyamide and insulated with Re:Down (100% recycled down and feathers). The clean cut, roomy hood, side slits for movement and oversized silhouette made it perfect for layering striped jumpers, knitwear or even a denim jacket underneath.
It promised duvet-level warmth without the bulk, (read: the equivalent to wearing your duvet out in public while still looking put-together, fairly smart and very cool), and is what we call a commuter-friendly design you could wear racing around the city, heading to the gym, or jumping between meetings. As for the price, admittedly, £249 may not be the most accessible price point, but according to our girl math that’s equivalent to a couple of quid per wear.

Back in the ancient times (TW referencing lockdown here) and dog walks plus daily hikes became our new social calendar, the coat sold out almost instantly. In the years that followed, Arket kept innovating: a cropped edition, a khaki style with a drawstring waist, quilted jackets, and bold colour ways like cherry red. And the fashion set continued to lap 'em up.
Now, AW25 has brought puffers back to the runways with a vengeance—seen at Fendi, Toteme and Max Mara in mid-length and shawl-collar variations—and while high street contenders from Uniqlo to Massimo Dutti have their own cult pieces, this Arket puffer still reigns as the OG. Of course, there are also tones of other winter coat styles making their mark on the high street, from the humble trench coat to wool coats and other duvet styles, but if you've only got the budget to choose one, this is the style we'd go for. Particularly now, with the black still available…for now…
What makes the Arket puffer coat so special?
We understand that buying a down-filled coat is a big no-no for some, but as Arket's designs are made with Re:Down® (100% recycled down and feathers), it's still something to consider. The alternative is a synthetic fibrefill which is better from an animal welfare POV, but worse on the environment front. Synthetic padding is not expected to last as long as feathers and down will, plus it'll take twice as long to biodegrade and likely end up at landfill once worn out–so, essentially, you've got to weigh out the pros and cons on each side.
Arket's puffer coats are also crafted with recycled polyamide shells—a material choice that keeps the look luxe and functional while lowering impact,—compared to many high-street puffers which are still made with virgin fibres. Something to take into consideration. And given that AW25 has seen outerwear step into the spotlight with puffers styled alongside trench coats, wool coats and even blazers. The Arket puffer’s mix of practicality, unisex appeal and eco-credentials makes it a solid investment if you ask us. While many of the iterations are currently sold out, here is what you can shop right now.
