15 annoying TV moments that made us want to chuck the remote at the screen
We know they're fictional characters. We know it's just for entertainment value and we shouldn't take it all so seriously. But when your favourite TV show ruins your favourite relationship, botches a storyline, or throws away nine years of planning your schedule around a show (we're looking at you, How I Met Your Mother) by totally screwing up the ending, sometimes, we take it a little hard. Okay, a lot hard.
From Grey's Anatomy and Sex and the City to Game of Thrones and Gossip Girl , even our most beloved shows have let us down from time to time.
I mean, why did Mindy and Danny have to break-up? At the time, we were fuming. We considered throwing the remote. But when we reached the finale of The Mindy Project, sure, it kind of made sense.
And if we had to vote for a character most-ruined by storylines and dumbing down, it would be Ross Gellar. Poor Ross got "kooky" as the season went on and frankly, we missed the old Ross.
However, a lot of our gripes lie with season finales. Perhaps there's too much pressure on a final episode, perhaps there are too many cooks, but whatever it is there aren't many shows that tie up all the loose ends and get that final lasting memory of a show just right. We will hand it to Friends, Frasier and Buffy. That is all.

Looking back, we're glad the breakup happened on The Mindy Project. Without it, we wouldn't have had that amazing finale. But still, when we watched the breakup episode, we almost threw the entire TV out the window. They belong together!

Alex Karev’s Offscreen Exit on Grey’s Anatomy
Justin Chambers's character, Alex Karev, was one of the Grey's Anatomy O.G.s. Karev evolved from a bratty asshole in the pilot to Meredith's most trusted friend by the end of his run. So it's not surprising that fans of the show were incredibly disappointed when he just—poof!—disappeared with an explanation given by letters to Mer, Bailey, and his wife, Jo. Turns out he ran off to be with Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and the children he didn't know he had.

There have been a lot of exists on Grey's Anatomy—see above—but none hit quite as hard as Dr. Cristina Yang’s (Sandra Oh) departing the series. When we heard the news, we all thought: What will Meredith do without her bestie? Still waiting for that answer, to be honest.

The Dumbing Down of Ross on Friends
Say what you want, but we think Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and Ross (David Schwimmer) did not belong together. By the time season nine rolled around, Ross was no longer the same character we originally fell in love with. His quirky ways from seasons one and two were no longer endearing for a man in his early 30s, and we no longer believed in their chemistry. If there were an award for Most-Ruined Character, Ross would win.

The Prison Break Series Finale
Talk about a roller coaster. As absurd as Prison Break got along the way, it was even worse during the series finale, when all we wanted was for Michael (Wentworth Miller) to be free and live happily ever after. Well, fans got the happy ending—for all of two minutes until it was revealed that Michael had died. Consider this the drama-series equivalent of the How I Met Your Mother finale.

Dan? It was freakin' Dan Humphrey the whole time?! Setting aside all the ways this logic doesn't really make a ton of sense over the course of the show's run, this reveal just felt like a gigantic let-down. We were all hoping for something a little juicier.

Anything that pays homage to Journey usually gets our vote, unless you're using their song to bring to a sudden halt to one of the best dramas of all time. That's not the way we want it. (You'll get it if you're a Journey fan.) When the screen cut to black on the much anticipated season finale of The Sopranos, many people started screaming at their spouse, thinking he or she accidentally pressed a wrong button on the remote. Thousands also called their cable company to complain that service went out at the worst possible time ever. In hindsight, it's been considered the perfect way to end the series, but at the time...well, we're still not over it.

Here's another example of a TV coupling gone wrong. Izzie (Katherine Heigl) was one of Grey's best characters—until she hooked up with BFF George (T.R. Knight) and we had to look away from our televisions. Yes, their drunken sex may have been an interesting twist, but anything more than that? No, thanks. We think Shonda Rhimes is a genius, but this was one pairing we could have gone without.

Juan Pablo's explosive Bachelor finale—you know the one where he told “winner” Nikki, “I have a ring here in my pocket, and I'm not going to use it. I'm not 100% sure I want to propose to you, but at the same time I'm 100% sure I don't want to let you go”?—was what they call a shit show. Shame on us for watching that entire farce of a season.
