Airbnb has revealed its most wish-listed homes among Brits over the past month, and they're all SO dreamy
I have such fond memories of my holidays as a child. We never went abroad - rather hunkered down in the car underneath a sea of duvets and wetsuits and embarked on a six hour drive down to Cornwall. Or Wales, if we weren’t feeling quite so adventurous. We’d stay in holiday cottages or static caravans, go rock pooling and dangle our legs over the harbour-side while eating ice cream after ice cream. I vividly remember feeling as though I was in another country - without ever stepping foot on a plane.
I think that’s why - until recently - I was quite happy not to go abroad in 2020. For the entirety of my adulthood, I’ve felt as though I should make the most of my annual leave by flying as far across the globe as possible within my allocated period away. But it has been nice to be forced to enjoy the nostalgic destinations that are that bit closer to home.
That said, as we edge our way out of the global pandemic and things return to normal, I'm looking forward to the holidays I may be able to plan for 2021 with glee. And I'm not alone.
Airbnb has revealed a list of the 10 most wish-listed homes on site, as saved by Brits, over the course of the past month - and the majority are in far-flung destinations like Bali, Brazil and Italy. See, I'm not the only one with itchy feet.
This is in stark contrast to Airbnb's June list, which showed that their ten most wish-listed properties - including an oak cabin in Hemel Hempstead and a windmill in Kent - were all in the UK. 70% of the list was made up of British lodges, glamping options and cabins - and most of the properties had hot tubs.
So what made the cut this time around? The most wishlisted home on Airbnb right now is this incredible six-person villa in Lombardy, Italy. Overlooking the lake and with mountain views aplenty, it boasts a swimming pool (which is open from May to September), a tennis court, bowling alley and park. What's more, it's just 150 meters from the center of the medieval village of Riva di Solto where you'll find shops, bars and restaurants. The dream.
If Bali tickles your fancy, there's a Balian treehouse with the most beautiful pool you've ever seen sitting pretty at spot number two. Walk to the beach within two minutes, sit and have breakfast on the veranda and dive into the turquoise-hued pool when you need to cool down. There is space for two guests, a four-poster bed and enough Instagram opps to fill your feed for the rest of the decade.
And if you don't fancy getting on a plane after all, fret not. There are a few seriously dreamy spots perfect for a weekend break in the UK, including this insane windmill in rural Kent. It doesn't have any availability until December 2021, but we guarantee it's worth the wait. We're also lusting over this gorgeous countryside lodge with al fresco hot tub and BBQ. Obsessed.
