OK, we’re just going to come out with it. A jewellery collection is not complete without charm pieces. For many of us, every personal milestone is an excuse to add to our collection – whether that’s a big birthday, wedding (we know someone who recently gifted her bridesmaids a charm to add to the bracelet she had given each of them for their 21st birthdays) or even to mark the end of a flat share, or year travelling the world together. If anything, these small sentimental pieces mark pivotal moments of our lives we want to remember forever. Even the celebs can’t resist the allure of charm jewellery with everyone from Rita Ora, Blake Lively, and Cara Delevingne to Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa and Kate Middleton digging the trend.
Right now, as with all things cute and kitschy from the Y2K (hello, bucket hats, butterfly tops and platform shoes), charm jewellery is having a major summer moment. “We’re seeing a huge revival of charm jewellery,” says Francesca Fasan, head of marketing and online – UK and Ireland – at Thomas Sabo. She adds: “From Chanel to Fendi and Christina Dior, over the past decade we have seen charms pop up on catwalks and be worn by celebrities, so a trend renaissance has definitely happened – and the trend is here to stay.”
In fact, Thomas Sabo is nailing this trend with a Noughties-inspired holiday charms collection that is launching us, head first, into the summer spirit as we prepare to head off for a girls' week away in Mykonos or a salty seaside jaunt in the UK. As we all know, great outfits really come down to the accessories and, gosh, you’re going to want these.
From cheery sun-shaped pendants with red, green and orange-coloured hand-set stones to martini cocktail-shaped charms (complete with a lemon slice), from aeroplanes to hot air balloons, all crafted from 925 sterling silver, if you’re looking for a way to ramp up your summer holiday wardrobe, these are just the thing.
We’re also digging the brand’s sterling silver and 18k yellow-gold plated anklets that you can personalise with the prettiest charms to perfectly set off a sun-kissed glow and bright pedi, or there are the pearl charm bracelets ideal for those sundowners by the pool.
You’re also going to want to check out the Thomas Sabo sunglasses collection. OMG, this is giving us all the ’90s feels, especially the rectangle-shaped Kim frame that comes in a shade of juicy orange sorbet (team it with the brand’s yellow-gold eyewear chain for practicality and a dose of high-octane glamour).
What we love most about Thomas Sabo jewellery is its versatility – yes, it might be tapping into the Y2K trend and channelling some serious Barbiecore vibes with its pendants but it’s all very wearable. You can layer as many pieces as you want for a bold jewellery lewk, or go minimal with one of its delicate chains. You can even make yourself a fully curated ear party look with a mash-up of its hoops and ear studs. The jewellery brand has come such a long way since it released its first charm bracelet in 2005; there’s now a much more sophisticated spin on nostalgic pieces with 18k-gold plating, freshwater pearls and rose gold on offer.
Just to make your summer even better, Thomas Sabo has just launched its one-of-a-kind Charmista Community membership club. When you purchase any Charmista bracelet, anklet, necklace, or Charmista Coin charm, you’ll instantly become a member and get 15% off all charms until 31 December 2023, as well as access to a heap of other exclusive benefits such as invitations, first dibs on new launches and collections. As if we needed more reasons to shop!
Without further ado, here’s GLAMOUR’s edit of 12 Thomas Sabo pieces worth packing this summer…
