Ready to add some new-season freshness into your wardrobe?
Spring Outfit Updates 2022 Trends

We are so ready for the arrival of spring. Sunny days, picnics in the park, iced coffee… they’re all brilliant reasons to get excited about the warmer weather. But we have to admit, what we’re really looking forward to is adding a few fresh new pieces into our wardrobes, so we can celebrate the season in style.

As part of our ongoing mission to search out individual pieces, we’re heading to one place to get our spring fix. Polish fashion brand Reserved is our #1 destination this season (and every season, tbh.) and its largest drop of unique pieces from the lookbook has just arrived in-store and online. We suggest you run, don’t walk.

Quite simply, the spring collection from Reserved has made all our fashion dreams come true – which is fitting, as the inspiration behind the collection is a dreamlike virtual reality, seen through a fashion filter.

We’re here for the mix of nostalgic Y2K styling (the baguette bags have sorted our going-out accessory requirements) and homespun aesthetic (crochet knits tick off the cottagecore mood), but the inclusion of shimmering techno fabrics make any retro details still feel mesmerisingly modern – and that’s a very good thing.

As the fashion world has fallen for any items inspired by Noughties style, Reserved has smartly edited the best bits from the era and updated them for 2022. Handkerchief-hem tops are great as part of your essential jeans-and-a-nice-top style equation, while asymmetrical strappy dresses have made a welcome return as an after-dark dressing option.

Faux-leather flared trousers and a black faux-leather blazer will become versatile wardrobe staples that last longer than just one season, while Reserved’s denim also manages to look totally of-the-moment and utterly timeless. This season’s take on denim is softly washed and comes in a mid-blue shade with a diagonal design detail that feels incredibly contemporary. We particularly love the denim corset vest, which looks far more expensive than its price tag would suggest.

There are wardrobe-staple neutrals throughout the drop, of course (the oat milk latte-coloured mini dress in shimmering fabric with diamanté trim is sure to be a sell-out), but the majority of the colour palette is zingy, bright and looks to a bold future.

As do the patterns. An opulent marble design, reminiscent of traditional Florentine papers, has been updated in pastel tones and appears on coats and flares for a high-fashion feel, while space-dye knits feel digitally designed and are paired with traditional crafted textures (the crochet knit striped jumper and shorts co-ord is already in our basket).

And what about those accessories? Starting with the shoes is always a good idea. Spring sees a clever nod to the Noughties with a pair of terry-towelling flip-flop mules in spearmint or sky blue and a padded lilac fisherman's-style sandal with ankle ties. If your pedicure isn’t quite ready to see the light of day, we’ve also fallen for Reserved’s thigh-high boots with a chain buckle over the toe. Try them with a pair of shorts for a quirky play on proportion this season.

We also adore the slouchy shape of the pleated fabric shoulder bags – in coral or kingfisher blue. They’re the perfect pop of colour in a neutral outfit as well as being a practical solution for carrying all your essentials. Top off your *lewk* with the blue towelling baseball cap – baseball caps are having a major moment on the catwalk and give every outfit off-duty edge.

Whether you want to update your entire spring wardrobe or simply add one or two well-chosen pieces into your existing outfit mix, you’ll find everything you need for the new season at Reserved. We’ll race you there.

Shop the collection online at reserved.com or IRL in the flagship Oxford Street store from 16th March.
