Now in its 17th year, GLAMOUR’s Women of the Year Awards is all about honouring the record-breakers, game-changers and feminist activists who not only inspire us every day, but help make our society a better place.
After last year’s ceremony saw us honour women in industries from film and music to philanthropy and fashion, Samsung is back as our sponsor, helping us bring the star-studded and empowering event to life. And this year, we’re teaming up with broadcaster, author and Samsung brand ambassador, Fearne Cotton, to bring you – our beloved GLAMOUR audience – a Women of the Year social video series on our favourite topic: inspiring women inciting change and bulldozing the glass ceiling in their respective fields, and how they use the brand new (and equally game-changing) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 to help them achieve their goals.
The Z Flip5 has the biggest cover screen *ever* on a Galaxy Z Flip, and the foldable form makes it ideal for selfies and filming hands-free (so, essentially, it’s every content creators’ best friend). Plus, thanks to the zero-gap hinge, the Z Flip5 is more compact and slimmer than previous models, so it can fit in even the smallest of pockets. The super-clear lens keeps photos crisp and reduces blur (it even reduces glare from bright lights behind you), and the real tone function ensures skin tone is true to life, no matter the lighting. Plus, the long-lasting battery performance means no more frustrating phone deaths while creating content (or, more importantly, on nights out with your besties).
So, join us on the below dates on GLAMOUR’s social channels to see Fearne in convo with Talia Mar, Gee Nelly and Sincerely Oghosa…
MONDAY 16TH OCTOBER: Talia Mar
Join Fearne as she chats with Talia Mar, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter sensation who’s taking our hearts by storm. She gets real about her creative process, the biggest challenges she’s faced, and how she’s going to shake up the music scene.
“My creative process is different every time,” Talia says. “With songwriting, sometimes I want you to cry, sometimes I want you to feel empowered, and just honing in on that.” Talia says she enjoys using the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 when lyrics or melodies come to her during the night. “My favourite thing about this phone is I can immediately click on the side and bring up my voice notes – sometimes it’s 2am, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, quick, just sing it in.’”

What’s next for Talia? “I think just continuing to try and be me, and when people say no, maybe be like, ‘Well, maybe I'm going to do it anyway.’ It took a long time to figure out exactly what it was that I liked, but once I did, I was like, ‘Okay, this has made such a difference. It just changes the game.’”
Prepare to feel inspired…

THURSDY 26 OCTOBER: Sincerely Oghosa
Following on from Talia is Fearne in convo with Oghosa Ovienrioba, AKA Sincerely Oghosa, a 30-year-old content creator on everything from fashion to travel. Oghosa is known for her refreshingly open, no-holds-barred approach to content – a rarity in a filtered, Insta-perfect world – and isn’t afraid to delve into typically taboo subjects.
“There’s so much pretence on social media – which I get, it’s highlights – but I’m trying to bring a different side to that,” Oghosa tells Fearne. “It can be challenging talking about things that affect me as a woman of colour, so sometimes there can be backlash from people that aren’t ready for that.”
But the benefit to such authentic content is that Oghosa is empowering others to help the next generation of young women. “I’ve had people email me and tell me that, because of my content, they’ve been able to have conversations with their children and their daughters about being a Black woman or a woman of colour.”

When it comes to using the device for her work, Oghosa says: “One of my favourite features is the Flex Window. Every content creator knows that the back camera is the best, so what I do is flip the back camera, and I can see it at the front – and you can activate it with your hand, so you don’t have to touch it.” Another benefit is the long-lasting battery: “Even if I do forget my portable charger, this keeps me going all day, shooting my content that I need for my platform.”
MONDAY 6TH NOVEMBER: Gee Nelly
Gee Nelson, AKA Gee Nelly to her fans, is a 28-year-old YouTuber and professional gamer known for her ‘geenelly’ Twitch channel, where she live streams video games to her 180,000+ followers. She brings a creative and empowering perspective to the male-dominated gaming world.
On turning her love of gaming into a career, Gee explains: “I would just go online and play with my friends, and we did that because we enjoyed it and we loved it. Then it was a lot of dedication and hard work.”
“Being a content creator, this is such a good device,” Gee says, twirling the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 in her hand. “I would say one of the features I like most about the Samsung phones in particular is that they have a Snapdragon processor [a mobile processor for Galaxy with very fast, advanced performance and mobile connectivity], so it’s basically like gaming from an actual console. I also really like the Amoled screens [a display technology which gives exceptional picture and colour quality, higher refresh rates and reduced blue light].” Gee continues: “A lot of gamers game in the dark which can strain your eyes, and they’ve really made sure that they’ve looked after that part of it.”

When it comes to the challenges of what she does, Gee says the online world can impact her mentally. “[I have struggled] with my mental health and being online, because when you live-stream, it’s live. I’ve always spoken really openly about mental health and I think it’s helped my audience.”
To help support her mental health, Gee practises gratitude. “It makes you realise, ‘Oh wait, actually, I shouldn’t be negative about this, because I have this.’”
