It’s not accurate to say bridal white has overtaken the LBD in terms of red carpet reliability, but I would say it’s running a solid second place. And, naturally, Zendaya is doing it better than everyone.
At the Gothams annual film awards on December 2, Zendaya wore an open-backed Louis Vuitton column dress that looks like it might belong to a particularly chic bride. The gown has a halter neckline and a gently flared skirt, to which the actor added minimal extras in terms of styling.
Zendaya skipped the necklace — which has become de rigueur on red carpets lately — and chose simple diamond stud earrings to match her single oversized cocktail ring. She kept her makeup and hair equally simple, with a classic glam look and a sleek ponytail.

But Zendaya has always looked good in white, which she has worn on several red carpet occasions — particularly during the Challengers press tour in reference to “tennis whites.” She’s done the white blazer sans shirt look, a sleeveless jumpsuit, sporty long dresses, and equally sporty minis, all in a crisp white colour. Meanwhile, little white dresses were one of summer 2024’s biggest trends for both formal and casual occasions, and we’ve seen white looks on the likes of Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and Jennifer Lawrence lately, among others.
