Portugal has always been fascinating to me, especially the Algarve, with its rustic coastline and stunning beaches. So I was excited to be able to visit the W Hotel and celebrate the opening.

The W has encapsulated the glamour and energy of Portugal within its signature style and has rewritten the rules of luxury travel. It has bold design, exciting social spaces, and exclusive amenities. It was the perfect introduction to this beautiful country.

Each of the bedrooms, designed by AB Concept, has been designed for luxury with stunning views of the coastline and a huge swimming pool. You can tell that it was important to take in the landscape so that anyone staying feels a real touch of The Algarve. The balconies are perfect for a social selfie.

I was delighted to be able to come here for many reasons, but most importantly, the opening of Paper Moon - a stunning Italian restaurant that boasts an alfresco terrace and some of the best food I’ve ever eaten: think burrata with a tomato crumb, any sort of fritto misto you can imagine, and a heavenly aubergine parmigiana.

The morning after an indulgent dinner, I got to experience the W Spa and gym. There’s something fun about trying out a new gym in a luxury hotel and this one didn’t disappoint. The views alone are worth the walk to get onto the treadmill - who doesn’t want to work out looking over acres of green grass and the ocean from floor-to-ceiling windows?

Once you’ve finished your workout (or even if you haven’t worked out at all), you can enjoy the spa which has 6 different treatment rooms, a touch-up space (for a bit of pre-dinner makeup), as well as LED face masks, steam rooms, and saunas. If you don’t fancy a trip to the spa, the team will come to your room - the ultimate luxury.

The outside space at the W is remarkable and special. The pool stretches across the lawn and there are multiple outdoor eating and lounging areas that offer beautiful sunset views, and great opportunities to relax.

If you ever feel the urge to leave the hotel grounds, you can explore the stunning Algarve coastline. We were treated to a beautiful boat trip to get a closer look at the caves and beaches that surround the area, as well as a wonderful trip to a local vineyard and a lunch I’ll never forget.

In short, The W Algarve Hotel is a dynamic addition to The Algarve’s hospitality landscape. Its bold design, luxurious amenities, and vibrant atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for travellers looking to experience the best of both Portugal’s natural beauty and contemporary luxury. Don’t walk, run to this fantastic destination.
