On Saturday 27 August, we'll officially be under a New Moon in Virgo. New moons are generally a time for action, initiation, creation, and a good moment to go full-pelt for your dreams (especially as we've all been feeling so down about the general state of the world recently it's been hard for many of us to feel motivated). But what does the Virgo New Moon actually mean for you?
We spoke to the experts to find out what the New Moon In Virgo actually means and how your star sign interacts with this new moon.
“The upcoming New Moon on August 26th will be in the sign of Leo, according to Jyotish astrology. Leo is a very expressive, insanely ambitious, conceited sign for who it’s imperative to become ‘someone’. And this New Moon is about the realisation of one’s self, including creativity and self-expression, meaning who are you within the society and how you realise yourself in life (that includes your ego too),” Daria, astrologist at Moonly app explains.
“Simply put, this is when the Moon approaches the Sun, and it's, as it were, 'burned' in its rays (The Moon, as we know, symbolises the mind, thought processes, impressions and emotions). And, so it happens, in each period of the New Moon, the Moon itself is updated, helping to renew all our experiences and emotions.”
Heather Morris of Glee fame divulged an old story circulating in the backup-dancer community on Just Sayin’ With Justin Martindale.

She adds: “This New Moon is in the Magha constellation, which from Sanskrit means benevolent, magnificent and symbolized by a throne. It has a lot to do with power. This is a royal Nakshatra, which indicates the realisation of our grand ambitions and how we strive to realise that part of ourselves. If you are an expert in some area, it's time to devote time to achieve the highest rewards.”
However, this New Moon is a little more complex, Zee, psychic and founder of Zee to Zen explains: "This new moon squares with Mars in Gemini, you may feel some friction. Geminis are goal-getters without too much decision-making vs Virgos want to plan ahead.
“Find a balance between the two by not rushing decisions but allowing yourself to follow your dreams.”
It’s time to align with your highest self during the next New Moon this August 27, which is in the sign of the very organised Virgo. This New Moon requests you to take pride in your routine that makes you feel more productive and rested - perfect timing after the summer holidays.
From Leos plumping for an opulent castle for their venue to Sagittarius's eloping on a beach.

“How are you going to step outside of your comfort zone? Remember, the Universe is always working in your favour,” says Zee.
"For the new moon virgins, let’s translate their spiritual meaning. You might have heard of a “full moon” but the New Moon each month is equally as important in manifestation. The New Moon's energy is all about becoming an energetic match for receiving, so you can manifest those dreamy desires. This is the time of the month to spark those dreams by taking action and risks. "The New Moon for this month is in Virgo, telling us that we need to get organised and get our life in order, for the last remaining months of 2022. If you want to achieve those dreamy goals, you must ensure you're in alignment with the Universe. Set yourself some intentions for September which will allow you to raise your vibration.
“However, this New Moon is a little more complex… because this new moon squares with Mars in Gemini, you may feel some friction. Geminis are goal-getters without too much decision-making vs Virgos want to plan ahead. Find a balance between the two by not rushing decisions but allowing yourself to follow your dreams.”
There's some powerful energy going around.
