Victoria Beckham and her daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz recently made a case for yin-yang dressing at the premiere of Nicola's new film Lola (which she wrote, directed and starred in, no less). That is, they went for total opposites on the fashion spectrum when it came to their outfits.

Are you more into trending pieces or investing in classics? That's what we're asking ourselves as we peruse both stars' looks – with Victoria choosing a classic that never fails in a black trouser suit with an oversized jacket, while Nicola wore a white corset top and low-slung trousers. Both looks were created by fashion designer VB, naturally.

Noticeably, both ladies' outfits seemed to reflect the aesthetics of their respective generations – from timeless to trending.

We can't pick a favourite. Both trouser styles have their merits, of course. Victoria Beckham's are a life-long classic that can be dressed up or down with most separates, while Nicola's low-waist trews hark back to a noughties moment that some millennials want to forget – but worn right, feel current and cool.
