This eyeball manicure with 3D eyelashes is Halloween's scariest nail art trend

I swear these blinked at me.

If you're keen to vamp up one body part rather than go all-out gory, Halloween nail art is just the thing. And the eyeball manicure is definitely one of the spookiest designs we've seen so far! As well as being more intricate than blood-red talons or the standard ghost mani, it also means you don't have to make too much effort with your costume this Halloween – just let your nails do the talking.

Back in May, we spotted one of the creepiest pedicures that looked like it belonged on a horror movie set. California-based nail artist Tahvya Krok sculpted and handpainted incredibly lifelike eyes onto her client's toes. We couldn't stop staring at the detailed eyeballs that looked right back at us. There seems to be considerable interest in realistic eyeball nail art because on September 23, nail artist Betina Goldstein shared a peek at her version of the eyeball manicure – complete with a set of wispy false eyelashes

The Los Angeles-based manicurist shared a short clip showing off her thumbnail with a tiny 3D eye. She sculpted the eyeball in the middle of a matte, cool-toned beige base, which almost mimics the colour of her own skin. Betina nailed all the details on this eye despite its small size. She perfectly captured the brown and green hues in the hazel-coloured iris. Its pitch black pupil and black rim added to the eyeball's eerie accuracy.

Betina went the extra mile by adding tiny hairs from Lashify to the top and bottom lashlines. She cut and glued each individual strand. The long hairs on the top of the eye were clear as day, but the fine hairs on the bottom looked practically nonexistent.

This isn't Betina's first eye manicure and certainly won't be the last. In fact, she noted in the caption that she has a thing for eye nail art and likes to outdo herself with each new manicure. “If you have been following me for a few years you know I have an obsession with painting realistic eyes on nails,” Betina said in her post.

In 2020, she added eyeballs of different colours to high-gloss French nails. Though those lifelike eyes are convincing, you can see how much her skills have improved in the past two years. It's evident in the way she recreated the wrinkled appearance of the eye area alone.

If you're as obsessed as us, you'll be pleased to know that Betina has already teased more eyeball manicures are on the way. “I will be doing a few more of these in the month of October trying to refine it,” she added in her post.

Honestly, if you told us these eyes blinked at you, we wouldn't doubt you one bit.
