Their stars shine so brightly, they need sunglasses to shade their eyes from their own celebrity glow.
At least, we can only assume this was what was happening at last night's Critics' Choice Awards in LA as not one, not two, not three but FOUR of Hollywood's biggest stars took to the red carpet in shades.
And while we're used to seeing A-listers wearing shades at every possible opportunity (to protect their valuable eyes from the glare of the blinding celebrity spotlight), we're sure they could stand to be frame-free for a few snaps on the red carpet.
Offender number one: Julia Roberts
Gorgeous dress Julia. But those giant shades are just not acceptable indoor wear.
Offender number two: Matthew McConaughey
Actually, we're kind of digging Matthew's super-sharp dressing here. The shades sort of work. You're excused, McConaughey.
Offender number three: Tom Hanks
We can still see a little bit of Tom's eyes through these shades. And actually they do look a little squinty. Maybe the actual sun attended the Critics' Choice Awards this year.
Offender number four: Meryl Streep
Arghghgh! Meryl's doing it. It must be OK as this woman does no wrong. We feel so confused.
