There's a bit of Hitchcock in the air this Fashion Week. On Day 1 PPQ introduced an unmistakable ode to the director and today Alice Temperley presented her autumn collection, aptly titled Byrds, riffing on the classic Hitchcock beauty: patrician good looks and subtle elegance - the definition of good taste.

The models carried on this theme with perfectly slicked-back up-dos and cats eye sunglasses. Creamy cashmere knits moulded to the figure were tucked into playful striped skater skirts or super-wide leg trousers. What the show notes said: "Showing a continued evolution of the Temperley woman, today she is an alpha female with a darker side, but still luxuriously chic and ultra feminine." How this translated on the catwalk: Ivory crepe gowns with crystal-studded necklines, tent-shaped coats and black satin scarves tied at nape of the neck, draped down the models' backs. Who we can see working this look to perfection: Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Marion Cotillard... And Ms Hedren, but of course.
