Taylor Swift's latest pedicure is the most unexpected colour for winter — but surprising as it may be, it's also kind of perfect for the season.

It can be hard to focus on details like a pedicure when our Swift steps out in another daring Vivienne Westwood number, but her latest polish choice has managed to capture our attention. Winter manicure trends are typically marked by dark tones, matte finishes and a more subdued palette — think deep reds, dark browns and cool greys along with the occasional black. However, this year, Taylor Swift is ushering in the colder months with a pedicure that defies the rules of the season: a sky-blue pedicure.

The pedicure Swift chose for a night out in New York stood out thanks to its contrast with the velvety burgundy fabric of her heeled sandals. A bright sky blue colour is unexpected for the cold days of November — after all, it belongs to the pastel colour pallet typically associated with the spring months. However, Swift has shown that it's officially an option.

Despite her vibrant Vivienne Westwood dress, the “Love Story” singer's pedicure was possibly the most striking part of her look, bringing a touch of luminosity, softness and a subtle elegance. Plus, sky blue is not actually such a wild idea for winter. Just think of all the crisp bright blues of winter: the blue of ice, the blues of the movie Frozen for a start.

With her latest pedicure, Taylor Swift has challenged convention and broken the traditional boundaries of winter fashion. Her pedicure is a detail that completes her look, reminding us that every detail – no matter how small – counts. She has also reminded us that wearing an unexpected pedicure is a great way to add a touch of personality into a look. Ultimately, it's not just about following trends, but about reinterpreting them in our own way, surprising ourselves and others, and creating a look that is true to one's essence, no matter the season.

We also have to talk about the singer's look, designed by Vivienne Westwood, one of Swift's go-to designers of late. It is easy to see the hallmarks of Westwood in the design: the draping of the bodice, the boat neck, the volume of the skirt. This dress, however, with its striped print skirt and corseted bodice, was a true work of art.

As for her makeup, she opted for a bright orange lipstick and matching eye shadows. For her hair, she opted for an updo with her wavy fringe falling over her forehead. Vivienne Westwood would be very, very proud of the overall look. After all, it sums up the brand's raison d'être: rebellion.
