“I want your midnights, but I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day,” sang Taylor Swift on Lover. How long has she been planning this!? Ever since she used her VMA win for “All Too Well” to announce TS10, we’ve been counting down the days-hours-minutes ’til Blondie drops Midnights, her upcoming studio album.
And the wait, my friends, is finally over. Because today, the Midnights Era has begun! We already knew a bit about the album, from track titles to the fact that the premise behind this latest Swifty release is that all the songs were written at “midnight” (love that, who hasn't tried to write a song in the dead of the night when they're feeling ALL the emotions?!), but now the full album (Tay's 10th studio album) has dropped and fans everywhere have been sharing their initial reactions.
Taylor's name has, unsurprisingly, been trending across social media since its early morning release, with thousands of early listeners weighing in with their thoughts, praise and comments about the latest release. And the consensus: it's pretty effing good.
Some fans picked out individual favourite songs:

While others lamented the absence of the album when they were going through their own midnight troubles. One Twitter user wrote, “OMG needed this during so many lockdown nights,” another adding: “Where was Taylor Swift's Labyrinth last year when I was moving on from biggest heartbreak?!”

If you haven't managed to listen yet, or just want to brush up on a few extra bits of info for when your friends no doubt quiz each other on it during Friday night drinks, here's everything we know about the release.
“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve…we’ll meet ourselves,” Swift wrote in a first-look promotional post shared via Instagram.
In Swift’s “making of Midnights” montage, her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff can be seen working on the project.

There are three special edition versions of the album available, including on vinyl, and when combined with the standard version and turned over, you can make a clock (clock hand not included, we assume).

Writing one album and getting people to buy it four times? Mad genius.
