Let's face it: Sydney Sweeney is the moment.
After appearing in hit shows such as Euphoria and The White Lotus, she made rom-com history starring alongside Glen Powell in Anyone But You and appeared in the female-fronted Marvel movie Madame Web with Dakota Johnson. But her next onscreen appearance will be something somewhat darker – a horror set in an Italian convent, where Sydney plays a troubled nun.
Immaculate seems like something of a personal project for Sydney – she auditioned for the film back in 2014, but according to IMDB it “never materialised”. So, years later she took on the role of producer for the film, revised the script, found financial backers and hired a director. Talk about an actual boss.
Shortly after wrapping, Sydney took to Instagram to commemorate the “hard work” and madness on the Immaculate set. “I just wrapped the first film I’ve ever produced, Immaculate, with the most amazing cast and crew," she wrote. "I can’t even begin to describe what an amazing experience it’s been these past few months in Rome. I’ve learned so much and can’t wait to share all the madness we created with you”.

Here's everything we know so far about Immaculate.
What is Immaculate about?
The official plot synopsis for the movie reads: “An American nun embarks on a new journey when she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. However, her warm welcome quickly turns into a living nightmare when she discovers her new home harbours a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.”
When the trailer for Immaculate first dropped on X, the most goddess-like tagline for the film was posted: “The Father. The Son. The Sydney Sweeney”. Something tells us there might be some bad omens at play here, let's hope Sydney's got her wits about her.

Who has been cast in Immaculate?
Immaculate was filmed on location in Rome, undoubtedly at or not far from Vatican City, so the majority of the supporting cast is Italian – including Simona Tabasco (who also appeared in The White Lotus), Benedetta Porcaroli, Niccolò Senni and Dora Romano. Alvaro Morte will also appear, who you may recognise from Netflix's Money Heist.
It's coming to cinemas later this month.

When will Immaculate be out?
It will be in cinemas from 22 March.
Is there a trailer for Immaculate?
Yes, there is. According to the trailer, it looks like what might be “immaculate” is a certain conception by Sydney Sweeney's nun character. Judging by the snippets, it looks like her character falls pregnant – but we'll have to watch to get the full story.
The nuns at the convent she is staying at soon grow to mistrust her, unsure whether the child she is carrying is “the second coming” or something more sinister. Eek.
The super menacing statement of “suffering is love” that's repeated throughout the trailer has got us, too, and we're very intrigued to know what this horror has in store.
