Gone are the days of celebrities hiding their baby bumps on the red carpet. And thank God. At the 2024 Emmys, Suki Waterhouse showed off hers (she's expecting with her partner Robert Pattinson) in a custom Valentino gown that had to be literally reconstructed around it.
Waterhouse's look definitely didn't skimp on drama. The scarlet ballgown featured a high, scooped neckline and an extremely open back with a tie detail, an ultra-low waist, a voluminous skirt, and an oversized decorative bow at the front, right under the baby bump. There were also pockets, which all the best dresses do.
Speaking to Laverne Cox on the red carpet before the ceremony, Waterhouse explained that the gown required a little bit of innovation in order to make it work at all. “I was really excited about this look,” Suki Waterhouse said. “I tried it on a couple of months ago but it didn't even like… the fitting was just me holding it to my body. So they had to really take it apart and they really had to redesign this dress to make it fit the bump. I'm really happy that it worked.”
As they say on the internet, "Mother!"
