Snapchat has commented on the accusation that it copied popular makeup designs for some of its filters on the app.

This story on The Ringer appeared to expose the company as it discussed the many filters Snapchat had seemingly 'borrowed' from makeup artists on Instagram and other social platforms.

Since, Snapchat has released a statement to The Ringer which doesn't outrightly include an admission of guilt, but appears to hint to some recognition of its mistakes:

The statement read: "The creative process sometimes involves inspiration, but it should never result in copying. We have already implemented additional layers of review for all designs."

It continued: "Copying other artists isn't something we will tolerate, and we're taking appropriate action internally with those involved."
