While the whole world is enjoying Simone Biles's historic run at the Paris 2024 Olympics, nobody is living it more than her husband, Jonathan Owens, who travelled to the city of lights to support the gymnast as she achieved her first gold medal of the current Summer Olympics.
On July 30, 2024, Simone Biles officially became the most decorated Team USA gymnast of all time with eight Olympic medals — five of which are golds. With a score of 171.296, Biles, alongside her teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera, claimed the top of the podium in the Artistic Gymnastics women’s team final at the Olympic Games in Paris, marking the first time the team got gold since the 2016 Rio Olympics. (Team USA were silver medalists in Tokyo 2020.)
Prior to the final, Jonathan Owens had taken to his Instagram to announce he was en route to Paris to support Biles from the stands at the Bercy Arena. “Coming for you baby,” Owens captioned his snap from the plane, tagging Biles, who reshared it on her own stories.
Owens made it safe and sound to Paris and attended the team's final alongside Biles's mom and dad, making headlines for not only keeping scores while the gymnasts performed their exercises but also for wearing a custom Simone Biles T-shirt — much like Snoop Dogg in days prior.
Owens's choice to wear his Simone Biles tee was a sweet nod to the couple's relationship, as Biles supported Owens during the last NFL season also wearing her own Jonathan Owens merch.
After Biles took to the podium with her teammates, Owens also took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to his wife, posting two snaps of the duo post-win, including a kiss pic.
“Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ❤️🤍💙” Owens wrote on Instagram.

Biles acknowledged Owens' tribute reposting the same photo he included in the second slide of his carousel to her stories and leaving a message for him in the comment section of the original post. “My whole heart. I love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Biles wrote in a comment. “Means the world you’re here," she continued in a second one. The duo also posed together for a selfie, which was posted to Owens's stories.
Owens also celebrated Biles's first Paris 2024 gold on his IG stories, where he posted a closeup of the medal. “So dope man,” he wrote in the slides with a fire emoji. He also reposted a picture of Biles smiling after finishing an exercise during the event from Team USA's official Instagram account. “Just amazing,” he wrote in that slide with a heart and a smile emoji.
Though she might not be wearing her Jonathan Owens merch during the official competitions, Biles is still pretty much reciprocating Owens's love and support during her time in Paris. In multiple snaps posted to her social media from practice and more downtime, Biles is always rocking her custom “Owens” diamond necklace. We love love!
“Gonna hold your hand when I say this…”

Biles's journey at the 2024 Olympics has just gotten started. Next, she'll be taking on the individual women's gymnastics event at the all-around final on Thursday, August 1, and Owens will still be by her side, so stay tuned for more tributes!
