She’s so diamond of the first water for this! Simone Ashley, who undoubtedly captured the hearts of viewers as the strong-willed Kate Sharma on season two of Bridgerton, arrived for the season three premiere in full viscountess glam. If she’s ever looked better, well, we can’t remember the time.
The British actor stunned in a custom Prada gown that, when it caught the light, seemed to be made of strings of diamonds. But they're actually just sequins, which probably makes the gown so much lighter (and significantly less expensive!), allows it to move more naturally and have a better fit.
She also stepped out in tomato red.
The brand, one of her faves, also outfitted her with a silver evening bag and matching strappy sandals, and Ashley kept her makeup simple (dark liner, nude lip) and her hair swept back off her face. Suzanne Kalan jewels added a bit of actual-diamond glitter bling to the ensemble.
As the teasers have repeatedly hinted, the upcoming season, which will premiere in two parts launching on Thursday 16 May on Netflix, focuses on the love story between Penelope Featherington (a wallflower who is secretly also Lady Whistledown, played by Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (the sweet and somewhat clueless third son of the family, played by Luke Newton), her close friend on whom she’s harboured a longtime crush. Obvs, we can’t wait to see how that plays out, but after the fireworks between Kate and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) last season, the writers instinctively knew audiences would need to see more of the pair.

Simone Ashley told Vogue India: “Everyone knows this season belongs to Penelope and Colin, but when we meet Kate and Anthony again, she has softened quite a bit. She’s growing into her role as viscountess. Gosh, it feels like we filmed that season a lifetime ago.”
