We're not exactly short of French nail ideas. So just when we thought we'd exhausted all options, Selena Gomez not only drops a new song, but also a fresh spin on a classic. Vanilla French nails, the invisible French and the micro French have all recently nudged the French manicure into new, modern territory but Selena's latest version, which we've dubbed the 'Chateau French' manicure, manifests in a bolder, chunkier tip that you can expect to see everywhere this spring.

Selena Gomez's latest single “Love On” is a bubbly, sugar-sweet tribute to the joy of romance. And when Selena drops a new song, everyone pays attention. Her music is typically fun, flirty, and oh-so-catchy, and her latest single has all those attributes and more. If you're looking for your spring bop — and hair, makeup, and manicure inspo to match — “Love On” has you covered for the next few months.

Selena teased the project and its Parisian setting for a few days via Instagram before the song dropped, so we knew it was going to have a retro, French-y feel. Boy, does it ever. Even her nails are French! Selena wears a bold, chunky French manicure throughout the video, and her go-to nail artist, Tom Bachik even makes a cameo in the video doing Selena's nails as she poses outside in a cute blue dress and fascinator hat perched atop her bob!

In an Instagram post, Tom broke down exactly what products he used to create her Chateau French manicure. First, he prepped Gomez's nails with his Tweezerman x Tom Bachik Ultimate Nail Care Set, then applied a full coverage tip for more length and a softly rounded square shape. Tom applied a “luscious” coat of Essie's classic sheer pink Mademoiselle for a “fresh, clean base," then created an “exaggerated, bright white '90s” tip with Essie’s Blanc and topped the nails with a rich layer of the brand's Gel Couture Top Coat to seal in the shine.

The mani was a bit of a departure for Selena, who Tom says typically prefers a “bit shorter nail with fun, happy colours.” However, because they wanted nails that would work well with her many costume changes, the exaggerated “Love On” French fit the bill perfectly as, he says, he wanted it to “play into the chateau vibe of this video” (hence why we chose this manicure's name). It's just a little bit cheeky, much like the video itself. (And as for his cute cameo, Tom said he was “treated like a star.")

With every outfit change comes a new hairstyle, and there are some pretty adorable coquette-adjacent looks we'll be adding to our spring moodboards throughout the three-minute song. Hair accessories were essential to the flirty vibe of the video, including a sweet black bow tied atop Selena's bob and brow-length bangs.

In another scene, she dances in a gilded mansion with her hair pushed back from her face with a wide black headband, similar to mod go-go looks of the ‘60s. In yet another snippet, Selena hangs out with a group of ballerinas wearing a high, full retro ponytail with an adorable white bow pinned at the crown of her head, ribbons dangling as she dances.

Looks like the bow trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and neither is the eternally beloved French mani.
