Among the many touching tributes to Matthew Perry after his apparent death by drowning is a special message from Salma Hayek, who co-starred with Perry in 1997's Fools Rush In. The movie, about a one night stand that results in pregnancy, wasn't a smash hit, but the pair had excellent chemistry and, judging from Hayek's post, a great deal of affection for one another.

On Monday, October 30, Hayek wrote on Instagram, “Two days ago, I woke up to the shocking news that Matthew Perry is no longer with us. It’s taken me a couple of days to process this profound sadness. There is a special bond that happens when you share dreams with someone, and together you work towards them. I was very moved last year when Matthew shared on his Instagram stories how much he loved Fools Rush In, and how he thought that that film we did together was probably his best movie."

“Throughout the years, he and I found ourselves reminiscing about that meaningful time in our lives with a deep sense of nostalgia and gratitude,” Hayek continued. "My friend, you are gone much too soon, but I will continue to cherish your silliness, your perseverance, and your lovely heart. Farewell, sweet Matthew, we will never forget you.”

Salma Hayek also posted several photos: one of the two of them having fun on set, another from an industry event, and a screenshot of Perry's Instagram story in which he said he “loved” the movie he made with her.

Best known for his hysterical portrayal of Chandler Bing on Friends, Perry also left behind a legacy of helping those struggling with substance abuse, a disease he battled throughout his life. Following the news of his passing, Perry's family said in a statement to People, “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend…You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
