Rachel Zegler nearly didn't make it to this year's Oscars. Despite starring in the smash-hit remake of West Side Story as Maria, the actress told fans on Instagram she'd be wearing “sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel” on the night after not receiving an invite.
Then in a shock-twist, she tweeted, “well folks, i can't believe i’m saying this but... see you on sunday! the absolutely incredible team at @Disney and our snow white producers worked some real-life magic, and i am thrilled to be able to celebrate my @westsidemovie fam at the oscars.” And, to make up for the snub, she was even offered a gig presenting the award for Achievement in Visual Effects.
“I could not be more grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. seriously. now, what to wear...,” she wrote in another tweet. Given the last minute scramble to secure an outfit and glam squad, Rachel would be forgiven for turning up looking a little scatty. Instead? She turned it up. Dressed in a sheer black Dior Haute Couture gown with the glossiest, expensive-looking bob and a shimmery smokey eye, the actress looked incredible.

That right there is how you do a glow-up. And while we may never own a Dior dress, that silky hair is much more accessible than you may think, since Rachel's hairstylist, Clayton Hawkins let slip that he used Dove's Hair Therapy Gloss & Repair serum. And while the product is not yet widely available in the UK, we can vouch for the brand's Advanced Hair Series Shine Revived Nourishing Oil's ability to silkify hair and give the glossiest sheen, all for £8.99.

Rachel's side-parted midi bob couldn't look any healthier and the dinky flicked ends nodded to another major trend of the night, the flicked bob, also seen on Billie Eilish.
To complete the look, Rachel enlisted celebrity manicurist, Tom Bachik to paint her nails with the perfect shade of Oxblood red (he hasn't revealed the exact colour, but we love Nailberry's Noirberry).

So, for a last minute red carpet look, we'd say Rachel 100% understood (and out-did) the assignment.
