According to preliminary ratings in the US, this year's Oscars were the most watched in TEN years.
The 86th Academy Awards, hosted by Ellen Degeneres, pulled in 43 million viewers, and scored 12.9 in the 18-49 demographic.
The preliminary figures suggest that it will become the most-watched telecast since the last ever episode of Friends in 2004 (RIP).
It has been reported that the final 30 minutes of the Oscars Red Carpet Live! pulled in 9.1 (33.3m) between 8pm and 8.30pm.
We all know that's the best bit, because the big Hollywood stars don't arrive early - don't be silly.

It's the big one, the one we've all been waiting for...Best Picture. Will Smith presents the award, and the winner is...12 Years A Slave!
Steve McQueen's face is priceless - and Brad looks mighty pleased too.
"Everyone deserves not just to survive but to live...I dedicate this award to the people that are still in slavery today" McQueen says in his highly emotional speech.
Jennifer Lawrence presents the award (and doesn't trip over) for Best Actor. And the winner is...Matthew Mcconaughey for Dallas Buyers Club! He's come a LONG way since he was the king of rom coms.
He says "I want to thank God" and imagines his Dad watching him winning the award and "dancing in heaven".
Daniel Day Lewis presents the award for Best Actress in a Leading role - and thankfully cuts straight to the chase (we're getting tired now).
And the winner is...Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine!
"Sit down, you're too old to be standing!" she jokes.
"As random and subjective as this award is it means a great deal" she adds, before complimenting every other nominee in the sweetest way - except to Julia, to who she says "hashtag, suck it". Lolz. She then says her success proves that films starring women can be successful and make money. Go girl!
Best Director time now - Sidney Poitier and Angelina Jolie present the award to...Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity!
Robert DeNiro and Penelope Cruz present the award for Adapted Screenplay for Jon Risley for 12 Years A Slave.
Original Screenplay goes to Spike Jonz for Her.
Jamie Foxx and Jessica Biel take to the stage to present the award for Best Original Score - which goes to Gravity (Steven Price).
Let It Go from Frozen wins Original Song.
Pink takes to the stage in a ruby red sequin gown and sings Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It's pretty spectacular. We're on our third cup of coffee at 3.35 am and even we're impressed.
And twitter is abuzz with rumours that the singer is pregnant again because of her voluminous red dress.
After the drama and totes emotional speech from Lupita, the Oscar for Cinematography goes to Gravity!
Gravity also racks up an award for Film Editing.
Best Supporting Actress time! SUCH a tough category with all the big guns up for an award. And the winner is Lupita Nyong'o for 12 Years A Slave!
"Yes! It doesn't escape me that so much joy in my life is thanks to someone else's suffering" she says.
"I am certain the dead are standing and watching and are grateful and so am I"
"This golden statue, may it remind every child that no matter where you are from your dreams are valid" she adds.
Ellen gets Meryl Streep, Lupita, J-Law, Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, and basically half of the Oscars front row to take a selfie that will probably break the internet.
Oh wait, it actually did:
X content
Then Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth aka the most beautiful presenting duo ever present Gravity with the Oscar for Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.
Ellen steps out in a white suit - and introduces Brad Pitt, who introduces U2.
Favourite The Great Beauty wins best Foreign Language Film - this is one of a huge number of Oscars racked up by Italy in the category.
The best mini moments from the Oscars so far -
Brad kissing Angelina's head as we watched footage of her accepting her humanitarian award.
Kevin Spacey pretending to be House of Cards' Frank J Underwood on stage
Emma Watson and Joseph Gordon Levitt looking like the perfect couple
Kate Hudson steps up to the stage to present the award for Best Live Action Short with Jason Sudeikis - and her Mum Goldie Hawn looks so proud! And the Best Live Action Short Film is Helium!
The Lady in Number 6 wins Documentary Short Subject. 20 Feet from Stardom wins Documentary Feature, presented by the delightful Bradley Cooper.
Zac Efron (they really are spoiling us with the v. attractive presenters) presents Karen O who gives a stunning performance.
Emma Watson and Joseph Gordon Levitt (who would make a v cute couple) present the award for Best Visual Effects to Gravity! That was in no way a surprise.
Matthew Mcconaughey and Kim Novak present Animated Feature Film to Frozen! The film has been a HUGE hit and is firm favourite in the GLAMOUR office.
Costume Design is up next - surely The Great Gatsby or American Hustle with its fabulous seventies gowns should win! And the Oscar goes to Catherine Martin for The Great Gatsby! A worthy winner - those Prada flapper frocks were FABULOUS.
"I do have a few words tucked into my bra - it's a very Australian thing to do" - Catherine says as she accepts her award.
And surprisingly American Hustle didn't win best hair and makeup (er HELLO BRADLEY COOPER'S CURLS), but Dallas Buyers Club did. Congrats!
Ellen takes a selfie of herself presenting the Oscars - how very meta. "Oscars, hashtagged blessed".
Kerry Washington then introduces Pharrell to sing his Oscar-nominated song Happy from Despicable Me. And shocking news - his GIANT HAT is back! He gets the audience to dance and they wilfully oblige - this is literally the most Hollywood thing you will ever see. And it's SO MUCH BETTER than some of those cringe songs from last year.
Anne Hathaway - not wearing a nipple-tastic dress like last year - presents the award for actor in a supporting role. There's some really good male hair in this category, from Jonah Hill's curls to Jared Leto's wigs, Michael Fassbender's beard and Bradley Cooper's rollers moment. And the winner is...Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club!
He does the most adorable hand-touching moment with his Mum, shakes everyone's hand and then dedicates his speech to his mother and "all the dreamers out there in the Ukraine and Venezuela". We're crying typing this OH JARED.
And we're off! Ellen makes her first jokes about the rain "It's been a tough few days for us - it rained" - LOL ABOUT LA and your perfect sunshine! But those troopers on the red carpet were umbrella-free.
Ellen looks great in a Saint Laurent tux - and made a joke about the Best Actress Award being like the Hunger Games because J-Law won last year. She also jokes about bringing J-Law her Oscar if she wins because of her fall earlier and last year (scroll down to watch).
Jennifer Lawrence fell on the red carpet!
The actress, who was wearing bright red Dior, tripped and was captured in this Vine video.

We all know that Ellen Degeneres is going to be the presenter at the Oscars, but now the Oscars presenters have been revealed. And, spoiler alert, there's some cracking actors tipped to appear, from BAFTAs no-shows Benedict Cumberbatch and Jennifer Lawrence, to Brad Pitt and Angelina (scream!), and Bradley Cooper.
To be fair, a lot of the presenters are no big surprise, as many are nominated, a few unexpected appearances give an indication as to who will be appear on the red carpet. So roll on Brangelina, Emma Watson and Anne Hathaway, we're looking forward to seeing what you're wearing (unless you do an Emma Stone at the Golden Globes and don't walk the red carpet).
Also, Pink is going to perform at some point, so get ready for that!

Jared Leto is a complete mummy's boy, but that's just one of the reasons why we love him.
The Dallas Buyers Club actor has revealed WHO his hot date will be on Instagram - and no, it's not going to be Taylor Swift OR Miley Cyrus - it's going to be his mum, Connie.
Jared Leto uploaded a screenshot of a Facetime conversation between him and his brother and their mum. The caption alongside the picture, said: "My mothers face when @shannonleto and I told her she was coming to the #Oscars with us! :)"
Instagram content
It's not the first time the 42-year-old actor has taken his beautiful mummy to an awards show - she was the woman on his arm at the SAGs at the beginning of awards season. And not only did he take her as his date, he also dedicated his award to her.
On winning Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role trophy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jared said on stage: "Last but not least, [thank you] to my mother, the hottest date in town," the star said, as Connie laughed in the audience. "I just wanna say, thank you for giving me such a shining and wonderful example of the possibilities of life. For showing me the power of dreams and being the best mother in the entire world. I love you."
OK, that's it: Jared Leto, we love you.
The Oscars nominations were announced today - and there were some surprising snubs as well as some expected award-winners.
Whilst favourites Gravity and American Hustle led the way with 10 nominations each (as expected after racking up Golden Globes last weekend), there were some surprise omissions from the nominations list.
Critically acclaimed film Inside Llewyn Davis didn't receive any major nominations, whilst Mary Poppins-themed flick Saving Mrs Banks fared similarly poorly.
One of the biggest shocks was Tom Hanks being snubbed for his role in Captain Phillips - the film's director Paul Greengrass also missed out on the Director nomination. Also a surprise was Emma Thompson missing out on nom for Saving Mrs Banks.
Aside from the snubs, there are also some surprises - Philomena has been nominated for four awards (including Best Picture). But what's unsurprising are the nine nominations 12 Years a Slave's racked up, including included best director and picture.
American Hustle also got huge amounts of nominations, including all four acting categories for its stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. It's Amy Adams' fifth nomination - but she'll have tough competition from Sandra Bullock for Gravity, Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine, Dame Judi Dench for Philomena and Meryl Streep for August: Osage County. This is Streep's 18th nomination - so no pressure, Amy!
Most importantly, the Queen of last year's Oscars (J-Law, obvs) is up for Best Supporting Actress for American Hustle - so expect comedy capers if she wins.

The Oscar nominations are announced today - and 12 Years a Slave, Gravity and American Hustle are all expected to be up for the top gongs.
Said to be one of the most competitive years for the awards, a whole slew of other movies are thought to be up for the famed golden statue - including The Wolf of Wall Street, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club and Nebraska.
Like last year, J-Law is hotly tipped to win an Oscar after her scene-stealing turn in American Hustle - this time as Best Supporting Actress. She already took home the same accolade at the Golden Globes last weekend.
Rush hottie Chris Hemsworth and Oscars chief Cheryl Boone Isaacs will reveal the list at 1.38pm.
We will obviously be reporting the news AS SOON AS IT HAPPENS on GLAMOUR.com. But should you want to watch the noms on your lunch break we've helpfully embedded the link below.
The official poster for the Oscars has been revealed - and it sees host Ellen DeGeneres posing in a Saint Laurent tuxedo.
It's the second time the talk show host has been master of ceremonies at the prestigious awards, held on March 2.
Last month a trailer for the awards starring Ellen (and her impressive dance skills) was released.
The nominations for the awards will be announced on January 16 - stay tuned to see if favourites Gravity and 12 Years A Slave rack up a similar amount of nominations as they did at the BAFTAs.
The Oscars aren't until 2 March 2014, but film critics are already thinking about which films are set to go home with a gong.
Among the forerunners is 12 Years A Slave, which stars Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and picked up the top award at this year's Toronto Film Festival, where it premiere. Set in the 19th century, it follows Solomon Northup, a free man who's sold into slavery and spends 12 years trying to get this former life back. Watch the trailer below.
Also being talked about in Oscar circles is Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix as a lonely writer who falls for his operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). It sounds crazy but even the trailer makes for interesting watching.
Her will have to take on August: Osage County, which seems to star just about everyone in Hollywood. Among them is Meryl Streep who could be up for her fourth award for playing the cancer-ridden mother of the dysfunctional Weston family. See if you think she's got a chance below.
Rivalling August Osage County when it comes to Hollywood heavyweights is American Hustle. Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper & Robert De Niro all appear in this glamorous 70s con man flick.
Find out more about these movies and which others are up for gongs in the gallery below:
