Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan had similar ideas for fashion inspired by lingerie as they strutted down the red carpet last night. The two musicians stood side-by-side on Friday, October 25, in show-stopping dresses for the world premiere of Rodrigo's GUTS World Tour movie.

The two young artists, who have both become household names in such a short period of time, walked the purple carpet in Los Angeles for the film premiere. While Roan had an unfortunate run-in with a rude photographer ahead of the premiere, she still made sure to strike a pose. The movie is reportedly Rodrigo's full concert from her performances at LA's Intuit Dome back in August and will land on Netflix later this month. Roan, who was an opener during the beginning of Rodrigo's GUTS tour (and her SOUR tour), made a surprise appearance at her LA show where they both sang Roan's hit, Hot To Go.

The artists supported each other once again at the film premiere, going with similar but different visions for their style. Rodrigo opted for a vintage Christian Dior by John Galliano mermaid-shaped gown from 1998. The deep purple and black dress oozed 90s casual sexiness. She wore her hair long and wavy and paired the dress with earrings and a ring from Chopard.

Roan's outfit was very on-brand for her — wearing a sheer, fire-engine red dress from young designer Sam Harper. The gown was adorned with deep red flowers and came with a pair of matching sheer gloves. Roan paired it with black mid-calf boots. Her makeup was dramatic and bold, as she typically prefers it, with bold pink cheeks, blue eyeshadow, and a dark lip.

Olivia Rodrigo has been known to take inspiration from the 90s, including in her music, artistry, and style. Last summer, she released a nostalgic music video for her single Bad idea, right? off her second album that was reminiscent of 90s classics. The coming-of-age feel permeated the video, as it featured Rodrigo at a house party wearing an outfit that looks straight out of the movies Can't Hardly Wait (1998) and Empire Records (1995).
