NYFW: Pretty. Pretty Perfect

#WhatSarahSaw

"Raw beauty, no make-up, natural hair and sporty" - these are some of the more common buzzwords heard backstage at #NYFW. So when I spy anything along the lines of: flowers, pastels, pinks, rosy blushes, false lashes - you get it don't you? - I'm a little excited…

Here are 2 of the prettiest shows so far:

Zac Posen

"The look is soft and romantic", explained MAC make-up artist Kabuki. "I'm smoothing out skin and blending a pearlescent highlighter onto cheekbones. I'm sliding a white pencil along the waterline for an opening effect. Then, using MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack (£15), I'm sweeping on an almond flick to accentuate and elongate the eyes. All the girls are getting false lashes and we're brushing a soft nude onto lips".

And then there's the hair - thanks to Odile Gilbert my inspiration for my wedding day is sorted! "Think of the most beautiful time of day", said Odile in her distinctive French accent. "That's my vision for this hair. I'm simply curling hair and pinning it up; there's nothing too structured about it. To finish, I'm accessorising the style with pastel flowers". Odile then pointed out that the girls' earrings are the same flowers that are in the hair.

"Think modern Twiggy", said Diane Kendal, while carefully placing lashes onto major model Karlie Kloss. "I'm adding false separated lashes on top and bottom for a seriously girly flutter.

"There are two steps to the Carolina blush: First, I'm blending MAC's Casual Colour Blush in Have a Lovely Day (out in SS14) onto the apples of cheeks and then dusting MAC's Powder Blush in Fleur Power (£18) on top. I'm adding a whole concoction of pinks onto lips to finish this ultra pretty look".

Can I be either of the above? PRETTY please…
