Do you remember the show Stars In Their Eyes where contestants were transformed into famous singers? I finally know how they feel. On my last day of #NYFW I walked into New Yorks coolest hair salon Bumble and Bumble (bumbleandbumble.com) as a backstage beauty reporter and walked out as the Karen Walker girl. And I loved it. A lot.

The inspiration from Bumble and Bumble hairstylist Laurent Philippon: "They're urban, cool girls - don't think pretty, cute plaits - think lived-in, undone and edgy."

Get The Look: I'm prepping hair with Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray (from £7.50) and creating a soft wave with an iron. For a matte, textured finish, I'm spraying in a new Bumble and Bumble product called Dry Spun Finish. (£21.50) I'm then braiding the hair where I think it suits the girl best. Some plaits are being placed at the back while other girls are having an alice-band braid style - each model has a look tailored to them.

And then it was my turn. Thinking it would take a while, I took out my notebook to do some backstage beauty homework - but how wrong I was - in just 15 minutes my Bumble and Bumble hairstylist had recreated the look!

Here's my before, during and after...
