After almost a year of waiting, Netflix has finally released the clutch and announced the 5th season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive. But audiences be warned, after watching this show you will have a God complex and think you know everything about cars; so please, don’t try and take apart your engine.
After the release of the fourth season fans simply cannot get enough of Formula 1, to the point where 360,000 more people watched the 2022 F1 championship last year because of watching the docu-series.
And although last season got some backlash for dramatising some of the events, the show continues to get praise from the public for showing behind-the-scenes footage and highlighting the drive (pun intended) needed to be in Formula 1.
"How can we take back ownership of our breasts? After centuries of obsession with this part of our bodies, where should we begin?”

What will Formula 1: Drive to Survive season five be about?
Produced by Box to Box Films and executively produced by Academy-Award winner James Gay-Rees (Amy, Senna) and Paul Martin (Diego Maradona, the 5th season will have 10 episodes, each 45 minutes long.
Tensions seem high for this season and audiences will be shown first-hand how the drivers and teams prepared to battle it out for the for the 2022 F1 Championship title, and we want all the behind-the-scenes gossip!
This season will start in Bahrain and audiences will see the new technical regulations and cars for Ferrari and Mercedes, Redbull’s feud with Ferrari, crashes and cost worries for the Haas team, Daniel Riccardo’s shaky future with McLaren and much more drama-filled scenarios we cannot wait to sink our teeth into.
The final two episodes of this season will show the drama surrounding Redbull’s cheating allegations and the ins and outs of the Abu Dhabi race with Max Verstappen notoriously winning his second championship title.
“Queen Njinga was an icon of resistance."

Who will star in Formula 1: Drive to Survive season five?
There was only one question on our mind when season 4 came out: where is Max Verstappen? After being absent from the last season, there was much speculation online as to whether Max will make a comeback, and after months of wondering, it was confirmed in the teaser trailer that Max will make an appearance – and we are not mad about it!
Other drivers seen in the teaser include Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri – so we can expect to see them too.
Formula 1 reporter Will Buxton also makes an appearance in the trailer, meaning that we will get both on and off-track perspectives this season. Buxton was in what appears to be an interview room, meaning that within this season we will be getting solo interviews with each of the drivers, giving us insight into all drama and any rivalries between drivers.
What have people been saying about season five of Formula 1: Drive to Survive?
Max Verstappen, the current world champion, went on the Pardon My Take podcast and said “I’ve talked to the people who are in charge and running the show… we came to a good understanding of how we can work together. So yeah, I'm sure in the next one, you will see a little bit more of me.” This suggests that the drama from last year has been squashed and implies that this season will be the rawest yet.
Furthermore, after the comment made last season by Christian Horner, Stefano Domenicali has said it is “vital” for the survival of F1 to reach the female fans, and around 40% of F1 fans are women, rising a whopping 8% since 2017, and more women are attending the races too.
